How to get "wood"? (no joke question)

so i want to craft a garage gate or whatever and some items require "wood"

but all i can get is logs stick or planks.

in the recipe menu i see i can only craft things with wood or scap lets say a wooden stock to get "wood" but not finding a way to actual get "wood" from trees.

what am i missing?

google hasnt really helped me so far

What map is this? Is this singleplayer or multiplayer?

If its multiplayer, some servers just pile up mods that are incompatible along with maps and quests that makes no sense at all.

In the end we need more info about your case. I do believe your case is a multiplayer issue.

Also I meant to type mods but my mind went typing moderator instead of modification but you quoted by unedited post now.

It has to be some modded map. You have 200 hours worth. There's no way someone like you would struggle for a mere wood in vanilla map.

It has to be some modded map. You have 200 hours worth. There's no way someone like you would struggle for a mere wood in vanilla map.

most of my hours are from the early early days. i havent played it in a while. so i missed many updates. i play on washington map currently if i remember correctly

I've played both including from the website, Smartly Dressed Games in the past.

The game mechanics are similar. Logs and stick drop tables. It seems that you really got unlucky.

How many trees did you cut to figure out the game won't drop you wooden logs and end up posting? I'm curious.

no its dropping logs and everything no issue's thats not my problem. my problem is that there are some craftables that seem to require "wood" exactly named that.. not logs not planks. just "wood" and i can not seem to figure out how to obtain this.

You need a handsaw which is craftable using two metal sheets...

i already have a handsaw and with a handsaw i can create planks and sticks etc but not "wood" from what ive been looking

then you probably have crafting recipes that's overlapping or use materials from a different map

in the vanilla game there are no items simply named "wood"

that sounds like a modded crafting recipe

the item "Wood" does not exist in the vanilla game. all wood types in vanilla are Pine, Maple, and Birch, all of which drop named wood, i.e. "Birch Log".
