They need to connect to your local IP, this can be found bt searching "cmd" into your windos search thingy and type "ipconfig" and a huge list of stuff will show up. You then need to search for your "IPv4" address and have your friends connect to that. Make sure you are hosting the server on your comp.

Localhost only works if it is running on your Local computer,

Or just Google "Whatismyip" and tell them to use the IP from it, would do the same thing.

They're all in the same house. You read dont you?

That would work, if they forwared the port. That takes too much work for some people. They are at the same house so it isnt paractle.

No they dont have to portforward. Thats if they're all using different Networks.
They're all in the same house. Hence. Probably using the same network. Which means their sharing a network. Which Means. LOCALHOST will work. Because. THEY ALL IN THE SAME NETWORK.

Learn how to network before replying to this type of question.

Localhost is like a shortcut for typing your IPv4 address. And all of the IPv4 addresses for people on a network are different. That will be like connecting to a server on your comp which dosnt exist because you are not hosting a game

The IPv4 Is the IP your computer has. for THAT network. If i go to my friends house. It will change. If they are all using the same network. It doesn't matter. they can type. "LocalHost"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Localhost Localhost means THIS computer. And it will change wen you turn off your internet connection, that is if another device joins.

YES! If they connect to LocalHost. Their computer will only see one PC hosting server. That is LOCAL. SO THEY CAN JOIN. Hence LOCALHOST!

Person A is hosting, IPv4 Address: 10.0.0.1
Person B is connecting, IPv4 Address: 10.0.0.2

Person A starts to host: IPv4 Address to connect to to join game: 10.0.0.1

Person B types "Localhost" to join the game. Localhost is a shortcut for typing your IPv4 address. So Person B actually Types: 10.0.0.2

10.0.0.1 != 10.0.0.2
