What would be the best OS to host an unturned dedicated server on my HomeServer-PC?
Hi guys!
I kept my old pc parts after I upgraded it; with these parts, i managed to build another pc which i transformed into a Home-server. Right now, I am using Truenas Core on it for Media Sharing and other stuff, but I am planing on buying a cheap ssd so that i am able to dual boot into another OS.

My HomeServer pc specs are the following:
-ryzen 5 2600x
-Fury ddr4 16gb 2667mhz (ram)
-b350 gaming pro (mobo)
- (to be bought) cheapest ssd on the market with ~480gb of storage.

I read on some forums that 16gb of ram might not be enough since windows 10 (if that shall be my os of choice) uses ~2gb on "idle"; with that being said, I recently got my hands on a windows 8.1 pro debloated copy, should I use it? I literally have no idea what would be the most efficient OS to use in this situation.
So I ask you guys again: What would be the best OS to host an Unturned dedicated server on my HomeServer-pc?

Thanks a lot for your help! I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes, English isn't my first language... Have a great day! :metrobullet:

Windows is going to be fine, but if you are going to be running only one server then just switch to Linux, there are game server managers for that type of stuff. Pretty easy to set up and it uses less resources => more players => less lag. Also helps you learn Linux quite a bit if you've never used it.
