Well EQ DID kill off the Sandbox genre of MMOs with UO being the only and still the best.

And WoW more or less was a worse EQ clone. And now everything clones WoW.

katana is debatably the best melee weapon and it is certainly a top tier item (it favors speed over the other two highly prized melee weapons... also style.. if you are into that sorta thing).
