How do Mystery Box Keys work and what are they?

I recently traded a csgo skin for a mystery box key that "perfectly fits the lock of a [color=#dwbf22] mystery box![/color]" because on steam community market you can sell them to people for like 23-24 dollars. However, the trade is on a 15 day hold which gives me plenty of time to regret it. Will I be able to sell this mystery box key on the steam market for 24 dollars, or should I cancel the trade?

The mystery box key was never ment to be added to the market.

It is not marketable.

It can be bought through the store page of unturned though and is used to open mystery boxes.

but there is a buy history on the market. If it is not marketable now it obviously was at some point.

It may have been available in the past to sell, which would explain why people want a marketable key, but normal keys are now unavailable to sell on the market.

However, there are still keys out there that CAN be marketable, but those keys are OLD.
If you intend to sell it to "make profit" tough luck, unless of course you cancel the trade.

In short, you can no longer sell new keys, but old ones who are not affected by this, can be sold.

Unless you are trading for one of these "old keys", it's just simply not possible to sell, as you can just buy a key for a dollar through the store they have, kind of like how CS you can buy a key for $2.49

If you want to know how this turned out I ended up adding the guy and convinced him to cancel the trade, and accept the same value in cases instead. Thank you for your help.
