Why this game is barely fun at this moment
So let me start to say, this isn't a typical type of hate on unturned. This is just a critique so you can judge me, because this is the way i see it. I divided this into a few sections:

1. Balance: There is barely any balance at all. You can't progress that much if you are solo. Your loot is limited. What you can do is even limited. Base defence is super hard. People with endgame loot can annahilate you with tanks, because you cant destroy them with little arms. Rust as in example doesn't have any vehicles which balances it a bit, by endgame to starter. Starters can atleast defend themselves easier. Anyways you might get it, if you think about it.

2. Experience points: Face it, its just broken. People with max skills can just bhop around the map alerting 0 zombies, while destroying you with the sharpshooter skill and such. I understand its a reward for killing zombies and chopping trees and such. But aren't killing zombies and getting loot enough of a reward?

3. Lag and bugs: Crate busy bug. Very annoying none the least. PvP is very hard. You see people with bad pings that shoot you through a wall and you die, not fun, very rage inducting.

4. Raiding: Oh god, raiding was awful from the start. C4 Is barely even hard to get and it destroys wooden walls in 1 blast. Noice. Also the area of effect. You can build plates around your base.. That wont even help since 1 C4 is enough to blast through like 5 layers or even more with it. And don't get me started with tanks. I don't even know we Nelson added that OP thing. Tank combined with vehicle protected with sandbags is just a no. Hardly fair.

5. Inventory: Tackling with the inventory is hard. Very hard, well the rotation helps, but when you want to pick up something you need to, oh yes go to backpack make space for it ( TL;dr you have space for it, but you need to move the items around the make space for it) to get shot in the head. Oh also don't remind me when need to tackle with your inventory to put stuff from one place to another, very buggy.

6. Aircraft logic: Oh go off a road with a sandpiper and your flying and hit the ground from a 2 cm tall wall. Oh look looks like you wasted your sandpiper and sanity, probably you laugh for a bit.

7. Elag: You wont probably understand this, but when unturned spots that you lost connection for 1 Flipping second, you get DC'ed, it doesn't wait for your connection for 10 sec and such, it just DC's you. (It happens a lot to me, not sure to you though).

I hope Nelson can do something about that. Like make it good, but not THAT fast-paced, i am not quitting the game, i can't it's too, i can't find the words for it.

Cut Nelson some slack, okay? He's working his ass off for us.

You make some good points in this post:

1. "People with endgame loot can annahilate you with tanks" - what you say here is correct people with endgame loot should be able to destroy you. The tanks thing is perfectly normal and balanced (because finding ammo isn't that easy and a nate instantly kills you inside a tank).

2. The experience thing: i had the same discussion with a friend of mine (but about experience being to weak. Because dying takes half of EVERY skill which is HUGE. It make you strong... very strong but with great risks: do i maxs all my skills or just the ones i really need and save the rest?.

3. You can't possibly blame him for bugs. Being a programmer myself it is very very hard to get rid of every bug. Nelson is one hell of a guy updating every friday implementing new things. Ofc new things bring new bugs.

4. You know you have servers where structures have different hp.

I can agree with the rest but i dont really know what you mean by 7.

Welcome to indie gaming! :steammocking:

You can always go back to those 'triple A' games that are over hyped and pushed on everyone else as if it was the next best thing that would be idiotic and unthinkable to miss.

Or you can marvel at the fact that this game was made entirely by a teenager that played on the early version of Roblox and is now one of the top downloaded Steam games around.

This is not a massive development team man, and noor does he get a decent amount of funding. your expectations of haveing things perfect and great are simply to mutch. anyway, i'll like you to do that same and do better.

could you? i'm thinking not.

1. But you don't understand about it, you should be able to atleast defend yourself somehow, but how i find it. It is near the impossible. Tanks arent balanced at all, you can just armor it with metal plates and it is just a metal driving fortress, armor the driver windows and then use 3rd person and then a big advantage.

2. Experience thing is just too unfair, but them being too weak, i guess thats why he added "classes". + the only thing i max is cardio, exercise, all spec ops skills, crafting and survival, i only loose my xp when i die by pvp, i barely even die by anything else

3. Logically being a programmer you should fix bugs and not add more stuff, then add more stuff fix those bugs. You get the idea

4. Im not talking about structure hp, im saying it about the c4 area of effect it breaches through walls. Which means you cant barricade your base with extra plates.

7. Means in english: Internet cuts out for 1 sec, thats it you disconnect, the server doesnt wait for your reconnection it just disconnects you no matter what.

Nelson is an independant developer, you can't expect him to be able to fix all this and adding new content at the same time.

Why don't you start up a free to play game all by yourself and see how far you can get.

I know there is a lot of work that needs to be done. Hell, I'd absolutely love it if he improved the crafting menu and put in a new tutorial showing some of the really helpful features newbies still don't know about, even after 50-80+ hours of gameplay, but the fact he plays tests the thing and still gives weekly updates, and has such a following, while not burnt out big as hell is absolutely miraculous. Usual games like this die in short order, since other things butt in, or the developer wants to do something else.

Nelson has been at this for years, and actually reads stuff on this forum. I think he knows what he should be doing so he keeps his income flowing... so.. you know, he pays his bills and whatnot.
