how do i add scopes and silencers to my weapon?

throughout my single player world i have found scopes, sights and silencers, ive heard if you put a scope on the outfield or timberwood its really good, but ive had to leave or drop them as i cant seem to use them, when i put them in crafting (with another weapon) it dosent work, anyone know what to do?

when u hold letter T u get a close up for your weapon then click on the name of the shown item to apply it to that weapon

Hold Y and press the word "scope" Its in the tutorial i think.
