The Adrenal Glands (located above the kidney) produce adrenaline as a function of survivability. The reason you get shakes is due to the levels of stress and the amount of adrenaline in your blood. An adrenaline rush can also increase you heart rate which can be very bad for people who are prone to heart attacks. Metabolism and perspiration is also increased and you also have a higher chance of working up a sweat.
In the end adrenaline gives you a choice. Fight with your new energy or flee and live to fight another day.
