Is it possible to get ''garbage'' when fishing?

It is possible to get non-fish items when fishing, like in MInecraft? I remember a guy told me you could get tape by fishing, and other stuff of the same type. Is this true or not?

I know in past versions you could not, and I also think now you also cannot.

Thats the point, I looked on the wiki and it doesnt say you can, but it doesnt say you cant. But I have fished for a while before and never seen it.

Are you playing on easy? I was fishing on the liberator on normal and got 4 pine sticks and 3 cans while fishing.

I've fished up garbage. Normal server, doing the "Fishing" achievement and trying to get the squid. Believe I got tape, sticks, and a can.

I wasn't sure that you need to play on normal to get garbage, but anyway once each 5-10 fish u get a garbage item.
Those items are cloth, sticks, can, tape and planks as far as I remember.

I exploited this a lot in a tdm server where scopes was not allowed. I had to fish tapes to make them since all was based on kits and it had no loot spawning.

Oh believe me you can. I was trying to catch the squid for the quest and I got sticks, can, tape, log ECT. It seems to be rare though

yea i was the leader of the fishing division xD
At a certian point nobody was fighting anymore, all was trying to make a scope for easy kills:D

I don't that often, since the mighty pirate known as "Yarrrr" is usually here instead. Just note that different fishing rods will have different chances for those junk items.
