For Honor has done financially pretty well overall, it's clear that they don't have the biggest budget invested into the development of For Honor but it's still absolutely making money and that's definitely going to give Ubisoft a good reason to make a sequel.
I think if they keep going the direction they're going with the game and iron out and tweak some of the issues that their attempts to change the meta and whatnot have caused they will gain traction again with Dominion Series as well, and if that happens we should see a relatively solid influx of new players and thus more people offering up their money to Ubi for the game and of course that would lead to increased reason to make a sequel.
We're on Year 6 out of 10 planned years, as per usual, with this game so we're nearing the end of content support of the game, means we'll probably see a sequel relatively soon if we're gonna see one as Ubisoft doesn't usually "wrap up" a game completely before moving forward with a sequel.
Not guaranteed to play out that way though, we could see a sequel after the game's support has ended and potentially even further out than what is normally the case.
Still, For Honor stays their most unique game, and I'm surprised they kept it alive this long (it's very far from dead btw, playerbase actually has some pretty healthy numbers), so maybe they'll surprise us, who knows...
Skull and Bones, Division 3 and For Honor 2 would be far better choices to develop instead of some trash like that F2P battle royale that they will cancel soon, Extraction and few others.
As mentioned above, Ubisoft has made some bad decisions lately. Rider's Republic, the sequel to Steep, and Legion, the sequel to Watch Dogs, made one of the worst debuts Ubisoft has ever made. Steep, Watch Dogs and For Honor were different and unique games that were tried to be made in the game industry recently. The sequels of both games did not go beyond mediocre. Now we only have For Honor. If Ubisoft wants to improve its one game that still feels "unique" without disappointing players, they must learn from the past and look forward.
