They all got their good parts imo and yep definitely this one's a must play. Just play them all. My favorite is 5 just cause it's fun.

This one, RE 4 (original) and RE 2R are my contenders for top three best entries in the series.

I would have to say this was the best reinterpretation of the first game and the one I have put the most time into so far.

Im always gonna prefer the original but this one is pure survival horror, play on hard and enjoy.

Crimson heads were not needed tho, running all the time to fetch kerosene gets really tedious. Chris crits more often but has smaller inventory which means more trips to the item box.

No door skip.

Puzzles are much better than in the original.

Lisa storyline is interesting and tragic.

Some people will prefer the original for its simplicity and horrible, cheesy lines, some people will prefer this one for better puzzles, harder difficulty, and nicer graphics.

Agreed. I also think the Outbreak games are way better than given credit but only if you play them online with other casual players which is impossible at this point even if you use the emulators as they wont be casuals. I also still prefer original RE2 but the remake isn't bad just different. If only they had finished it properly.

The original Resident Evil 2 and 3 are just as good if not better. They are available on GOG, and a must play for every RE fan.

Yes, i complete the game in normal and hard, (its not really hard to be honest), i think in expert without autoaim is the trully challenge, maybe some day pass in that difficulty.

This and original RE2 are the best in the series, imo. Original RE2 barely beats the remake by a few points because of the masterpiece of a soundtrack.

in removing scenes, adding padding, and adding meaningless backtracking just to manage item boxes 300 times? yeah, in that regard i guess.

All the puzzles have been improved, and the dialogues, horror, and atmosphere are much better. You can save Richard with a serum if you are fast enough, the Neptune part was greatly improved, and there are new enemies too. It blows out the original in every way.

Dude, I can’t imagine them doing a better job. Unlike RE3 Remake, all the locations are there and more, same meaningless backtracking as in any classic RE game, tank controls, new content, phenomenal soundtrack and atmosphere, and not only great graphics, but arguably the best console graphics at the time (Gamecube) that still is impressive today.

This wasn’t a 1:1 enhanced recreation. That would be a Remaster. There’s a million and one ways they could have screwed it up, but they didn’t. Give game devs credit when it’s due!

you're entitled to your opinion, to me the og is better. the point was showing the creator of this thread that it's not all downhill from here and it's largely up to his own taste.

In my opinion:

True Resident Evil experience: RE1-3 Original, RE1&2 Remakes, RE: Code Veronica.

Good RE game, but deviated greatly from original formula: RE0 (very frustrating too on first playthrough) and RE4 Original & Remake.

Most disappointing RE game: RE3 Remake

Not real RE games, but good games for what they are: RE7 and RE Village.

Games not mentioned I either didn’t play or they just plain sucked.
