GoG Resident evil trilogy vs Classic REbirth Resident evil trilogy
Well by trilogy I mean 2 and 3, are the gog re-releases worth it? Or should I just get the sourcenext versions and install Classic REbirth

I hear they are worth it, they are currently the official way to own them in the most-compatible state. The Sourcenext REbirth patched versions are what I've been playing for a very long time however, they work great with mods and have more options.
2 and 3 originals > 2 and 3 remakes
Classic Rebirth is technically the better version.

But GOG is way more convenient since its all set up already.
If moral reasons apply to you at all, it's nice to support GOG for putting in the work to bring these classics back. Also, since they're technically for sale at an official retailer again, those Sourcenext versions are no longer abandonware.
GOG Versions are Trash, Look into the original version with fixes and HD for all the games and even both Dino Crisis and you will see what I mean, they used the wrong versions to keep for preservation through GOG.
The great thing is that there's a fan patch on NexusMods to convert the GOG versions of RE2 and RE3 (which are the original PC versions of the games) to the SourceNext versions, which makes them compatible with the Classic REbirth patch, and more mods, since a majority of mods are made for the SourceNext versions.

For this reason, it's worth it for me. Buying those versions also sends a message to Capcom that there is indeed still demand for those older titles, and could lead to more ports, like how we just got Dino Crisis re-releases on GOG as well.

Well said!
Imagine a Steam Version with all those patches,,,
They should remaster those classics, like Aspyr did with Tomb Raider!
Add 16:9, full controller support for modern controllers, add achievements, etc.
