It sucks that the original trilogy it's on GOG instead on Steam.

maybe they'll put them on steam later, but it would have been better if they had been remastered like the tomb raider trilogy

A proper Remaster of the classic trilogy would've been preferable but as it stands I feel like Capcom themselves don't care about the classic games and would just as well have them disappear and without GOG taking the initiative we wouldn't have these re-releases in the first place.

I blame the fans. After every new, recent RE release Capcom put out a survey and in each one I wrote that I want them to release Remasters of the original trilogy, but almost everyone else just put "Duuuuh, more remakes, remake 5, remake 6, please remake 1 again, remake 7"

For what it's worth, I got the GOG release, it's really just the og PC version but with modern controller support and it working out of the box on modern systems and with all copatibility issues of the old version fixed it's honestly a good version of the game, arguably better than the original PS1 version other than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ video playback which you can then fix with the Rebirth mod.

Right now I'm just wondering what's taking GOG so long to release the second game.

yes a waste of time , I think in the survey they wrote resident evil classic collectiont this means the original games without any graphical improvements this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring , instead of writing resident evil 1 2 3 remastered trilogy, in fact they are taking a lot of time to put the second game on GOG and it's really strange,

I wasn't really that much of a fan of the psx RE's anyway, this was the first RE I got into just for the extremely good dark ambience.

First RE I played was 2, and don't think much of it. 1 a friend showed me directors cut and wow the voice acting is awful. The boxy spiders looked ok, but for the most part I'm just glad steams got this 1 and zero my 2 fav RE's.

On psx, koudelka and silent hill are far more entertaining horror games imo.
As for blaming the fans, well, I don't like many big name companies these days, give most of my money to indies such as darkwoods acid wizard, or pathologics ice pick lodge. The big companies got their mainstream fans and they will continue to make tons of money off them. If the fan source and money never cuts off the quality will continue to degrade because then it becomes greed and pumping out a product.

Originality is making something unique regardless of sells and that's why SH or koudelka were made. Not for success but because the creators had a vision, and wanted it out there. This is why the big companies I use to love, I no longer care about. Like bethesda they don't even look back at their old games.

Most of the important mods have already been patched to work on the GOG version though thankfully. Like REBirth and SHDP.
