How do I get past this part....

You need to find and put in the decoy key. I'll give you a hint for now: dog whistle.

In one of rooms on other side of mansion you will get dog whissle, in same room there are instructions where to use it. Go there, whissle, kill dogs, you will get collar, examine it inside you will get square thingy, examine it to, you will get fake key.
Take out real key from floor and replace it with fake one...
lol quite a hastle compared to PSX version.

you need to have (and use) the fake key

You find it by going onto the outside balcony and blowing the dog whistle

Then you examine the collor you get to find a coin that upon further examination turns into a "fake key" that you use to replace the amour key after taking it.

At the top of the stairs right next to the serum room there's a door that leads to the dining room second floor. There's a door to the side, before the dining room door, that leads to the balcony.

It's this kind of hard puzzles that I wish we had on recent RE games. They are awesome. It adds a lot to the survival feeling. Loving the nostalgia so far.

My first time playing this game and i knew that room was willing to kill me xD 180 degree turn and exit. Came back with the fake key only to confirm it by reading all the "Death" messages.

Absolutely loving the REmake so far.
