Resident Evil HD Remaster Bug Reporting Thread
Hey Resident Evil Fans,

We hope you’re all enjoying Resident Evil HD Remaster! While we hope all of our fans will have a great time with the game, there will always be some cases here and there where the game may not function correctly under certain environments and / or hardware combinations. That said, we’ve set up this feedback thread for you all to share any technical issues you may be having with the game. We’ll use this thread as a central repository for tracking these problems, and pass on the information gathered here to the development team so they can investigate.

Before providing reporting further, please ensure you've followed the steps below to rule out problems with Steam or the game’s files:

Ensure game files are intact using Verify Game Cache
1) From your Steam Library list, right-click on Resident Evil / biohazard HD REMASTER and select Properties.
2) Click the LOCAL FILES tab.
3) Click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache..." and allow the validation process to run its course. Please disable or shutdown your anti-virus while this process runs.

This process allows the Steam client to scan every single file you downloaded for this game, verify checksum of each, and compare that against the file manifest data on Steam's content server. If the file is missing or has a different checksum value, you will receive a message stating "X files failed to validate and will be reacquired." What this means is that some files have either been deleted, or may have been corrupted. Click “Close,” and Steam will automatically download and / or replace the problem files.

Reinstalling your video card drivers
We also recommend making sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. Some high end integrated graphics chips and modern laptop class discrete GPUs may work but have not been tested, nor are they officially supported by Capcom.

AMD Drivers[support.amd.com]
NVIDIA Drivers[www.nvidia.com]

If you still experience crash issues, you may want to try performing a clean installation of the driver set. This will remove any extraneous driver DLL files or game profiles that existed with the previous driver installation.

Important! Lastly, please don't forget to reboot Windows upon completing the driver installation. This will help reinitialize the driver and the graphics card using the new driver.

Reporting crashes
If you still experience poor framerate, “slow motion” effects, crashes, or other issues, please help the dev team by providing detailed information below.

The more samples and data points we receive, the better we are able to narrow down and determine the root cause of these problems. Here’s what we need:

A) Your System Specs
1) CPU name & model
2) Name / model of the desktop or laptop (if available)
3) Graphics card / chip model and the amount of VRAM
4) Video driver version number
5) System memory size
6) OS version (Windows 7, 8, 64-bit/32-bit, etc.)
7) Anti-virus software name and version

A good deal of this information, such as the graphics card model and VRAM, are available by running a DxDiag report. For more information on how to run this report, click here[www.fuzeqna.com].

B) Specific issue
Please share your specific issue and the location(s) where you’re experiencing the issues – for example, if you’re having problems with the framerate, is it happening constantly, or is it during certain cutscenes, during gameplay, etc.
If the game is crashing, it would be super useful if you can share your app crash log file via downloadable link using any one of the popular file hosting services such as DropBox, GoogleDrive, OneDrive, etc.

C) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible
This step particularly is very useful for the development team. The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the team can reproduce the error state and (hopefully) fix the issue.

Greetings to all of you.
Today the game received an update. I don't know what it was. I haven't played in over a year. I tried that today, hoping to see some new feature, but the game crashes and sends me to desktop whenever I've saved a progress directly with the typewriter. Has it happened to you before? It shows me an error message with a file it can't read.

Having the exact same issue followed by an error "Failed open file. Steam\steamapps\common\Resident Evil Biohazard HD REMASTER\nativePC\mnlts\serviceinfo 5". Same thing for you I assume?

Edit: Looked around on here and some dude suggested changing the Auto send data to disabled in the Options menu. I tried that and the save crash seems to have stopped. I'm ASSUMING it has something to do with the server.

i am getting the same "serviceinfo 5" error.
when i click on the View code to register and link Re it crashes with that error message about the serviceinfo 5. i have a screenshot of it but i dont know how to post a screenshot here.

when i use file explorer to browse C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Resident Evil Biohazard HD REMASTER\nativePC\mnlts\serviceinfo
i don't see a "serviceinfo 5"... just an empty folder that says serviceinfo.

i just installed this game for the first time yesterday.
from what i'm hearing around the web, people think RE's latest patch broke the uploading/registering function of the game.

Hey dude. From what I'm figuring, the update did in face cause this error. I experienced it when I'd save my game at a typewriter, just after it'd say "saving game" it would then go to "transferring data" and bam, game crashed with the same error as you, serverinfo 5. I read a post somewhere else saying something about disabling the "auto send data" or whatever it's called in the Options screen on the main menu. Fixed the error for me. Problem is, I'm sure ya wanna link to RE.Net so this may not be super helpful to you, but you'll be able to play the game at least. My theory is that maybe they are removing this from RE.Net since it seemed both things are internet related. Could be they just messed up, not sure.

Ok... thinking about it... I found the DEFINITIVE solution to the problem:

1) Press the Windows+R keys simultaneously;

2) Paste: "steam://nav/console";

3) "CONSOLE" menu will appear on STEAM... next to your username... paste on "CONSOLE" menu:

download_depot 304240 304242 3831846201811674141

4) Wait for it to download all 18gb (it will take a while)

5) Go to this folder in this path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_304240\depot_304242\nativePC\mnlts

and check that it downloaded the "serviceinfo" file (which is the only one you need)

6) Copy the file “serviceinfo”

7) Paste the file in this folder in this path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Resident Evil Biohazard HD REMASTER\nativePC\mnlts

(WARNING... the "mnlts" folder MUST BE EMPTY, if there is something inside... you have to delete everything!)

8) Enter the game, go to Options, click on "Auto data upload" and follow the instructions.

OK... NOW... IT WORKS!

9) delete the folder "app_304240" in this path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content
