Your first Resident Evil remake scare discussion.
I know the first scene in which you spot your first zombie kneeling over his recent meal scared the crap out of me on the game cube. I completely forgot how to shoot and died on the spot. I later realised you were supposed to run to barry. Let's discuss your experiences.

In RE1 it was the dog when you tried opening the main door in the foyer, in RE2 it was William Birkin dropping into the sewers with Claire and Sherry hiding in plain sight.
RE3 when Nemesis crashes through the window, REmake encountering Lisa Trevor for the first time. RE4 never really had anything spooky/scary just a lot of tension in different areas.
RE5 ??? Lost In Nightmare's enemy was pretty scary in that maze puzzle area, and RE6 suprisingly hiding from the Ustanakk as he came around corners when you made loud noises on the ice was pretty spooky.
Dogs. The first encounter was disturbing as hell when it first came out but nothing beat the dogs.
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the first jump scare of the Dogs crashing through the hallway window will be most peoples from the original, Guess I'll have to brace myself and see if this remake has the identical scene..
back on the PS1 version, i found something terribly unsettling about finding the S.T.A.R.S. member on the balcony with his body torn up and a bunch of scratches... plus the ravens watching you.. then getting swarmed.
whenever I turned the game on, a sense of dread set in... it was awesome! hah!

Neptune or Hunters gets me all the time.
Neptune and Hunter are most ♥♥♥♥♥♥ NPC's in this game they killed me so many times.I still remember when i played this on PS1,now i wait for remake no matter what freaky ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ will make me want to killself because i cant just pass them by trolling like the zombies that are slow and stupid.
Hmm.. I would have to say my first "true" (as in not the one you encounter early on that's evolved by default) crimson head encounter probably made me ♥♥♥♥ myself back in the GC days. Also the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fact that zombies can come through certain doors had my asscheeks clenching so hard. Just the sound of that doorknob rattling.... ugh.
Honestly as i've gotten older I have come to the realization that the games really aren't scary at all. Resident Evil is really lacking a scary atmosphere like Silent Hill or Amnesia. It's just jump scare after jump scare like in Dead Space. Those stop being scary when you're like 11. The only one that I remember scaring me as a kid was the licker in the interrogation room in RE2. Even though that was more of a shock than a scare.

I never played the original, only the gamecube remakes, and I doubt I'd have been impressed with the origionals, the thing that made the Remakes for me was the increadible artwork, and great music, combined with the scares.

Back on the original Gamecube, I remember I was playing a game with a friend over at my house. He got a phone call and was talking, so I was a little distracted. I entered the room after the dog window hallway and completely forgot that I had killed a bunch of zombies in there and was avoiding the room.

The first camera in the room is pointing straight down so you can't see ahead of you at all. I stood there for a moment and a crimson head ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hurled itself onto the screen and kicked my ass. Was probably the highest I ever jumped from a game to date. Love this game!
Hmm, with the exception of "jump scares" like the loud noises from the Dog's Breaking in or Mr. X breaking through a wall (which i dont truly find it to be a "scary" moment. I didint had any memorable "scary" moment (as in, being afraid of something).

Maybe i played this game when i was already old enough and thus i really saw more of its comical parts.

But anyhow, if tense moments count, i will say the first time i beated "The 4th Survivor" was very memorable, i remember being almost without health (my health was red), i was out of ammo for almost all weapons when i reached the Mr X part, i used my last magnum bullets, plus my remaining shotgun shells and i was down to my pistol (i knew i couldnt get away from him, since i was on "limp speed", so i hopelessly started to fire my pistol at him while backed into a corner.

When Mr X is about to punch me (he was doing the animation) he suddenly dies from my puny Pistol shots, i limp foward and enter the heliport and fully expected a new form of him to fight but when i discovered that was the final screen and i had just won the minigame, i screamed of happiness!

Probably the most tense moment i had in the fanchise.

Dogs jumping through Windows got me good back on PS1.
Oh yeah ... I was screaming like hell! That was the first and most intense scarer back in the game. Get's me almost every time again, when I am on a fresh play through!
While the dog through the window made me jump i think that when i got the shotgun for the 1st time and the room crushed me was what freaked me out the most the feeling of knowing i was screwd and tryin 2 remember the last time i saved and i was so happy for a second

Lisa always creeped me out, it's going to be creepier seeing her in 60fps too.

While she looks horrifying, what really creeped me out about her, was her backstory.

I was 12 when the original came out. My very first RE scare, was like most people, the dogs in the hallway. I was so freaked out when they came bursting through the window, that I instantly turned the game off. I never played it again :D
