Aiming mechanism?
Hi guys,

The only recent RE game I've played, is Revealations, in which player could accurately aim with a mouse.

But my understanding is that older RE games, and case in point, this RE Remaster, obviously does not feature mouse / controller aim.

So what happens when I shoot? Just aim at the general direction of the enemy, and hope to god that the bullets would hit them? If that's the case, the damage would always be random then? Meaning it could take say, anywhere from 4 to 8 bullets to kill a typical zombie?

This game you won't be shooting much. This is true survival horror what made RE great. You will be saving ammo like its gold for the boss battles. You will fear killing zombies because they come back to life as crimsons.

I get that you are supposed to be dodging enemies half of the time, but I remember that you did have to shoot in a fair amount of occasions. At least in the 1996 PS version anyway.

You just don't worry about the aiming. Trust me, you'll be fine.

As you say, it's pretty much aim in a general direction. You may score a critical every now and then. REMake's zombies take a lot more hits. Pro tip, if they fall, check if they're bleeding. If it isn't, shoot them while they are on the ground. Takes lesser bullets for a kill.

Yeah, bleeding is always a good indication that they are ACTUALLY dead lol.

I was shooting quite a bit in Revelations. Guess I wasn't playing it the true RE way lol.

In this game there is only so much ammo. You won't be getting ammo drops lets just put it that way.

Classic RE has zombies that "fake" death. They fall over as if dead but getting too close nets an ankle chomp! Sometimes it can save a little ammo though because the counter attack always results in mashed brains.

And I'm guessing this RE doesn't have melee attack? Probably not. To boost horror factor.

Right.

Wow. The more I know about this game, the more I look forward to play it!

There sorta is in the form of "self defense weapons" in it's own inventory slot, that helps you negate a zombie attack but these are extremely limited.

It kinda has... some melee...
For one, you have your knife (if you dare to use it... because it's not all that "effective against living things")
And second, you have your defense items...

You must be referring to the knife / dagger. So basically you could use it, but it's virtually useless.

You mean it's not all that effective against UNliving things.

LOL

Nope. It's a finite resource you find scattered throughout. Both characters have a "disposable" dagger and Chris has a flash grenade and Jill a stun gun.
