Help with crimson heads.
So... This is kinda embarassing to say but. This is my first time playing any RE at all.

I mean I've seen my friends talking about RE. Now with all the hype my friends where gettin I tried to jump on this saga, so I figured that, with the new HD edition for pc. This could be the start I always wanted.

So I installed the game, turned off the lights and started to play. After picking up a character (I choosed Jill because that's the only ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ name I remember.) I got immersed on this awesome game. Seriousley. I like Silent Hill but THIS.

Now, after killing a bunch of zombies and exploring all the rooms, I figured out what to do. So I went upstairs to do that (No spoilers) and all of the sudden a zombie revived in front of me and started to attack me with claws n ♥♥♥♥. i love this game.

My friend said that this happen when you are about to sucsesfully pick up that key. And that I'm a morron for not burning up the bodies. Luckly for me I had a save before going upstairs.

I choosed hard difficult because go hard or go home right?. And I'm a bit low on ammo...
I know I need to burn the bodies with kerosene but it seems like its not infinite and sooner or later I have to face this monsters... So, finally, do you guys have an advice for a rookie against the nightmare?

Always aim for the head at close range. Especially with a shotgun. If you were Chris, you would also have access to Flash Grenades which can blow zombies heads clean off.

Certain zombies have weak legs too, and shooting down will shatter their kneecaps, even with a pistol. Destroying the head, knees, or burning them will stop them from mutating forever. Always carry Kerosene and a shotgun. ;)

Also, don't shoot everything you see right away, it's often better to run around / dodge zombies until you have more ammo. They will never mutate unless you 'kill' them normally. Luckily they're pretty slow for the most part.

alright well first, youre on normal :p hard isnt unlocked until after your first playthrough. second. if its the zombie on your way to pickup a key and replace it with the fake key, if i remember right, there is no way around it, that zombie will always pop up as a crimson head, regardless of difficulty. i personally have always just ignored that zombie, because he resets in a not so bad spot.

First run? Than... it's not "hard". It's "normal". "Hard" will be unlocked after first complete run.

That "first" crimson head you can ignore. Just run past him to the door. He will be in this location but in difrent place when you'll be there later.

[edit] 3 minutes? xD

if you have a shotgun or magnum pull it out quickly and aim for the head if you can it'll end em quickly

Thank you guys for the quick replys! So I guess I'll just burn the bodies near safe spots... That should work! And the combat advices you are giving me are useful too... Nice community ;)

enjoy! the beginning is a bit difficult when ammo is few and far between, so just pace yourself and youll have plenty of ammo halfway through the game to make everything smooth sailing for the most part

So. If I destroy their feet they'll never turn? Does it work with knife?

Don't feel shy about using the shotgun on zombies. Let them get close, aim up and shot to blow their heads off. Saves you the work of burning them.

Also, welcome!

There were a file or 2 in the game explaining that the only way to get rid of the zombies completely was to burn them or destroying their heads. Did you miss this one?

You should have been burning the corpses from the begnning... if you did not, now all zombies are back up faster and stronger than before... There are simply no ammo to deal with that... lol

You better get back to thad save file and backtrack to old corpses and burn them. Some Crimson Heads cannot be avoided.

heres my tip in the mansion clear the mirror hallway and the areas around ur save rooms that will make moving around alot easyer no matter the mode till you leave the mansion

That first crimson head you face...

I knifed his head & blew it off with the shotgun. He dropped, I picked up my knife and proceeded on to burn other bodies in the room. When I came back around to move forward, HIS HEADLESS CRIMSON CORPSE POPPED UP AND GRABBED ME. I nearly ♥♥♥♥ myself because I had never encountered this in the Gamecube version and didn't know this could happen.

Needless to say, I knifed the missing head location and the knife appeared in the torso. I couldn't get my knife back ;(

I-I didn't knew they could do that... Jesus!

BTW are you talking about defensive daggers? If so. Can you pick them up from corpses? and how?

First of all, I applaud you for playing the game as designed. It's actually only Normal mode, but damn it all if it doesn't seem hard as a new player. Then again, that's kind of the point. But moving on...

There is not an infinite amount of kerosene, no. There should only be around four uses per container on Normal, and there are only two containers readily accessible to you (giving you the ability to take down eight zombies clean before you run into V-ACTs again). There is a third outside, but I wouldn't recommend going out there until you get the Shotgun.

There is one Crimson head that cannot be avoided at all, but the rest can be avoided with judicious use of kerosene and defensive/evasive tactics.

Warning: if you are attempting to escape the mandatory Crimson Head and run past any zombie you did not previously neutralize, the Crimson Head WILL kill the zombie to get at you and therefore create yet another Crimson Head. This may lead to a terrifying encounter later on. If this happens, immediately exit through any available door without hesitation.

One thing I will say is that chemicals affecting normal versions will also affect T-Virus counterparts.

You can retrieve your dagger if you blow off their head, as it will be present among the remains of their head when they fall. The problem is that the likelihood of this happening is fairly low.
