Help with dogs?

I'm getting REALLY pissed with fighting dogs, because i can never stun them and they always just do a grab move on me and drain me of my health, and i can't fight more than one. So, fighting them on the balcony is just impossible, so i need advice.

How can i kill the dogs easily? i am using an xbox one controller.

Dogs are shotgun mobs or run by them and dodge. No other weapon deals with them quite as effectively. Typically tho I would just rather shoot the crap out of individual ones with handgun/custom and take a herb after since there is more than enough healing (even on hard).

lol try to get the collar from that one dog with jill with zero daggers and stun guns and 5 bullets to your name with a pistol on the hardest difficulty.. took me like 20 trys

You only need to kill one dog, and that's the one wearing the collar. Best way to do this is to wait by the grey door with the green herbs growing nearby.
Blow the whistle and let the Cerebus come towards you. When it's close use a shotgun and shoot it. On normal and above it won't kill it in one shot although you can finish it off with a defensive dagger if it pounces ontop of you, whch is preferable since it saves you valuble shotgun ammo.
When it's dead you can pick up the collar and leave through the grey door you where waiting by. You should be long gone by the time the other pooch arrives on-scene.

Balcony dogs: Shoot on the dog, until its item falls down. Grab the item and run for the door. Never go to this area again. ;-)

Dogs you cannot avoid: Pistol is enough. If 2-3 dogs, take the shotgun.

On real survivor difficulty I was afraid of the balcony dog till I just sat with the back to the balcony near the green herbs and just slashed down, the dog went down in maybe 8 slashes or so and there was only one :/

That balcony is handy though! It has 3 instant health herbs to use whenever you need them. =P

Thanks for the help y'all! I was able to kill the dog with a dagger and a shotgun shell, avoiding the other dog entirely.

Now i just gotta deal with the crimson heads... >.<

Let him get close to you and shoot in the head with shotgun. Usually one-shot.

Shotguns work best for the dogs. But I have had surprisingly good luck with the handgun as well. I just wait for them to get in that lunge animation and pop off a round. Still throws them back.

I found that out myself haha. When i saw one running towards me (First one i've EVER encountered in my life), i went into full panic mode and popped him point blank range.

Wiggle the thumbs sticks, and I assume "W A S D" or whatever is your primary movement scheme for the keyboard.

I was terrified of the dogs in an invible enemy playthrough, Shooting wildly at the floor or wall or plantpot. they are a bugger.
there are a few self defense daggers easily obtained.

1. Room where dogs jump through windows(as long as it hasn't already happened) enter through 1st floor map room push the cabinet there is a dagger.
2. The zombie in the bath has a dagger.

on normal mode there are 2 more daggers

• 1 is opposite the statue upstairs in the dining room
• other is on the table in shotgun room.
