How do you exit the game?
I gave up looking for a proper exit option and just ALT+TABed and close the program on the taskbar in the end. Seems a bit crap, unless I'm missing something.

you quit to the main menu and use the "quit game" option there

If you go to the main menu you can scroll down. Below New Game/Load Game/Options is Quit Game.

With the game options, never alt+F4

That's where I was going wrong - didn't realise you could scroll down for more options, thought it was just the displayed options!
