Yes to all of that, this version is also the canon version. In short, it'll be a whole new experience for you from the 1996 version.Story remains the same but expanded upon.

mhm a hell of a lot, even Shinji Mikami himself said REmake is 70% different than the original RE from 1996 but you only need your eyes and ears to tell for yourself, really xD

By the way the Lisa sidequest was rather annoying xD But it was fun to watch some Wesker in action :D Would have been so much cooler if the tyrant got released before Wesker unleashes it and was hunting you through the mansion and through doors Nemesis style.... now that would have been AWESOME :| but since he is kinda like the final boss I see why this could not have happened :[

Not only it add all that, but it plays with your expectations on the original.
Things that you take for granted can never happen or happen in a different way, some zombies can break though doors, ammo is more scarce and on different places and there is a new mechanic on the zombies that make it even better.

The biggest difference between the 96 version and the REmake/REmaster version besides graphics and waht not is the addition of Lisa Trevor. She is the daughter of the guy that designed the mansion. As such Umbrella, being all evil, killed the architect and his wife and experimented on their daughter Lisa. Something like that, I don't remember exactly. Anyway, Lisa Trevor is the mutated thing seen at the end on the trailer with shackles around her feet. You can't kill her, she still has some memories of when she was a human and she will kill you in like two hits. The reason she was added is to explain the origin of the virus they use for nemesis from Resident evil 3. Basically they injected her with T virus and some other stuff I can't remember and she merged with it instead of turning into a zombie and they were able to make a new virus from it and called it nemesis. Also, the Trevor family story is actually sad so there's that too. I may being remembering this from the book so i may be wrong. Correct me if I am.

Yes, there are different areas and puzzles, the original game was expanded upon to help with story and to just make a better version of the original. I won't go into specifics but I will say this, this game is worth playing over the original. Even more so if you did not have a gamecube or a WII. Even if you did I still say to buy this game. I know I am and I grew up on the 96 version. This version brings it to PC and other consoles so a lot of people can play it that never got the chance and to also expose people to the game that started it all. To hopefully spur Capcom into other remakes and bring the series back to it's roots and get away from the action side of things with RE4 5 and 6.

They actually extracted the G-Virus from Lisa as well, she has the big G-Virus eyeball on her back

Right right, i forgot about that. Yea, they retconned alot into REmake so the story made more sense. Then 4,5 and 6 went out the window with story /sigh

Wow.
And all this time I just figured the REmake version had updated Graphics/Engine and a new enemy or something.
New areas and a whole new sidequest thingy? Lisa Trevor?
Jesus. I guess this won't just be a day 1 buy for nostalgic reasons then and instead a day 1 buy for what is sounding like an entire new and refresing Resident Evil experience. :D

Someone said that this is apparently the new canon too? So all this time from '96 to now I've been working on outdated lore?
Damn. Now I'm even more annoyed that this release date is in the far future of 2015.. :O

EDIT: Just replying to the comments here so far and haven't watched the vid yet - does it contain spoilers I should be worried about?

thanks for all the infos. im a pc player only, so obvious i have never played the GC version. sounds all really good. just few days ago i have started to play the original(96) again so i guess i will notice some huge differences.
this lisa girl sounds interesting and a nice addition to the game. i guess i will hate her if she keeps killing me or comes out when i dont want her too. but i guess i will find out for my self.

You're in for a treat! it's one of the best REmake's ever done.
