Any hints for the "eye door" puzzle

I'm at the door with the three eyes on the keypad. I recall seeing them in another room underneath lit candles... and that's about it. I'm not sure what the hint in that room was supposed to be since the keypad just shows them to you anyway.
Did I miss something or am I just thick?

Tainted beat me to it, but yes - get a piece of paper, light the candles and draw the eye shape + note colour, then check the corresponding pool ball numbers
