HOWTO: Remove black border for 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions
Hi!

Those of you who have a 4:3 screen (like me) and tried to play the game in "original" 4:3 aspect ratio will surely have noticed the funny black border around the game screen.

Until Capcom manages to provide us with an official solution, there is a simple workaround that will fix this issue. The only thing that you need is a simple text-editor (e.g. notepad).

However, this workaround has a small drawback: Some menus in the game (like the loading screen, the invertory and the map) will become "stretched vertically". The game world itself, however, is not stetched - you will get the original 4:3 aspect ratio here.

Perform the following steps:
1. Make sure the game is not running.

2. Open a text-edior (e.g. notepad), and hit "Ctrl+O" to open a file.

3. In the dialog box, copy and paste the following path:
"%LOCALAPPDATA%\CAPCOM\Resident Evil - biohazard@HD REMASTER\config.ini"

4. In that file, you should see a line containing "[DISPLAY]". Directly under that line, enter a new line containing "Aspect=4:3" (without the quotation marks, of course).

5. Save the file, close the text-editor and start the game.

6. Make sure that you have set the aspect ratio to "Original" in the game's display options, otherwise you will simply get a "stretched" 16:9 display.

7. Enjoy.

P.S.: Maybe someone could make this topic sticky, as this issue has been already addressed several times...

Yep this should be reported to the devs. Simply fix the menus/ inventory strech is something i'm looking for if a patch ever comes out. Also there is the "Speeded up musics" bug in some areas.

Those are the only two TRUE bugs so far i think.

I posted that some time ago, but it's not best solution. Inventory, and other menus looked squashed.
Today I found REHDHook - it is very good program, it can fix aspect ratio, cursor bug, and more.

Does this work With RE 0 too?

Nope.
If you want to play RE0 on a 4:3 monitor with the original 4:3 aspect ratio, you'll need this fix instead: http://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/6008/d3d9-proxy-controller-remapping-more
Also it is harder to use, you'll have to manually edit a config file with a trial and error approach.
