tank controls or new control system?
I'm not a fan of tank controls, but the new alternative controls somehow feel even worse, or maybe it's just the first impression? How do you guys play?

In this game with it´s fixed camera positions tank controls feel better to me.

alternate, but you have to understand them, in the remaster of the original tomb raider trilogy people also had difficulty governing them, once dominated they will be much more comfortable

Would recommend to use the alternate.
The tank controls are still available on the D-PAD, while you can use the alternate controls with the sticks.
This also allows you to walk backwards, move slowly without a risk to walk to fast, etc...
And a tip: Keep the stick position when the camera changes. Otherwise you'll spin around in circles. In my opinion, that was the biggest change compared to newer games.

At the end of the day "pick a lane and stay there"... so if both control schemes are uncomfortable to you, choose the better of the two and stick with it until you learn it.

If you want my personal opinion though:

Tank controls.

NOTHING but tank.

Resident Evil was designed on tank controls.

I would never EVER attempt no death/no save and speed-runs with alt-controls.
Heck, I wouldn't even play casually with alt-controls.

Alt controls re-orient the directions with every change of the camera-angle... they are so confusing, frustrating, time-wasting and clumsy.

Tank controls: forward is always forward, back is always back, left is always left, and right is always right.

Once you're use to tank you have complete control over your character with no guess work via direction re-orientation.

Plain and simple.

PS: If you use alternate you still have tank on the D-Pad... but more choice/options means more that your brain has to process. While you try to think about using two different control schemes at once a zombie will be busy turning you into its lunch.

In 'Tomb Raider'... still tank.

I can aim and dodge at the same time with tank.
I can make thought out and precise jumps with tank.

With alt controls I'm constantly fighting to simply aim.
With alt controls Lara constantly ends up falling to her death rather than performing the jumps I want her to.

These games were designed for Tank.

But again, "pick a lane and stay there" is what matters in the long run.
