Is RE1 2002 remake available on PC?
The 2015 remake is actually the 2nd remake for RE1, as a 2002 remake was made, which is available for consoles and Windows according to:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil_%282002_video_game%29

But I can't find any copy for the PC, not even a box art.

On the Metacritic page for the Gamecube 2002 remake ( http://www.metacritic.com/game/gamecube/resident-evil ), it says "also on PC". But clicking on the PC link simply takes to the original 1997 PC version.

So was a PC version for the 2002 remake made at all?

No. Gamecube exclusive since now. HD Remaster is the only PC version. You can pass by emulation if you want to try it on PC.

1. There is the original (1996) RE1 on PS1/PC and a few other variations
2. Resident Evil REmake (2002) -> the first and only remake on the GC
3. Resident Evil Archives (2008) -> 2002 REmake and RE Zer0 gets ported to Wii
4. Resident Evil REmake HD REmaster (2015) -> 2002 REmake gets ported to PC.

So... there's only one REmake of Resident Evil, that being the 2002 GC REmake.
And there are 2 ports of the one and only REmake: Wii (2008) and PC (2015)

Why the hell you want the 2002 version being the Steam version exactly the same but with improved graphics, it have no sense.

The same reason when you buy those Monkey Island games, you get to play both the remastered version and the original, old, pixelated version. Some people like it that way. I also own the old and new versions of Gabriel Knight, Leisure Suit Larry, Rise of the Triad, and on and on. Playing the old versions is for nostalgia and a sense of historical perspective. Playing the new versions is to enhance the old experience.

Anyway, the RE1 2002 PC version doesn't exist, so it's a moot point.

Emulation is kind of a savior for you then, as I said.

I want to play it legally if I could.

Who told you that you have to go illegal ? Buy a GC and a RE mini-DVD ( 50 $ max if you look well ), extract it and you still free of charge.

Of course you could do it with a GC and the original GC disc. But when somebody mentions emulators, which is what you did, we all know what that means. So stop being disingenuous. You mentioned emulators because you were nudging me towards doing it the illegal way.

I never told you to choose a way. Stop trying to prove you are more intelligent than other people and that you can read their minds. You'll look far less idiot.

1. It's the same damn game. Absolutely everything that was in Resident Evil (2002, GCN) is in Resident Evil HD Remaster. If you hate the PC, you can also get it for PS4, PS3, XB1, and 360.

2. If you insist on playing the non HD Remaster version, there are several legal ways:

· GCN disc in a Gamecube
· GCN disc in a Wii
· Wii disc in a Wii
· Wii disc in a WiiU

But really, I don't understand why you would bother.

You DIDN'T HAVE TO tell me to choose a way. The moment you said the word emulator, you made it clear you were suggesting playing an illegal copy of the game. Even if you extract the game image of a game you own, like you suggested, you STILL violate copyright laws because, as Nintendo's legal info below shows, using any game-copying device is illegal:

https://www.nintendo.com/corp/legal.jsp#emulator

I definitely look far less idiotic exchanging posts with morons like you.

You are the idiot here. Emulation does not mean being illegal in any way. If you don't have enough informations and you don't know what you are talking about, just shut up. Don't try to pass like "super self righteous mega informed person" as you so hard try to do. Emulation can stay in the legal side, if you own the game and extracted it. From the link you posted:

Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is ILLEGAL TO DOWNLOAD and play a Nintendo ROM FROM THE INTERNET.

"download". Not "extract". Learn to read.

RE HD REmaster IS basically your "2002" PC REmake. It was only developed later in 2015...
Probably they would've done a way better job at it in 2002, given the fact that they would've supposedly had access to all the required assets (that now are somehow gone in the dust... ) that's true, but still, this game here IS your "2002" REmake PC version.

The SAME document also says it's illegal to use game-copying tools (which I already pointed out in my last post). Look who can't read, lol. Can you just admit you got owned bad, kiddo, Lol? I can always detect ownable people around here. Their own stupidity can't stay hidden beyond 2 to 3 posts.

If you want to play the 2002 game, then play the 2015 game. They are exactly the same, except the 2015 game has higher resolution models, an alternate control screen, support for widescreen monitors (via pan-n-scan), and a couple of extra costumes. There is literally NOTHING in the 2002 game that isn't in the 2015 game.
