60FPS PC Port = gimmick...
All PC games should run in 60FPS. That should be the minimum allowed, not considered a "feature"...
30 "FPS" on your TV it's actually 60Hz interlaced... So 30 "FPS" on TV it's not the same as 30 (real) FPS on PC... 30FPS on PC (no interpolation in games mind you... ) it's simply unbearable.
Full HD Resolution = Just an adaptation for modern PC Displays... Nothing special over there.
Your 480i GC version looks the same on your CRT TV and even better if you use the RGB SCART Connection. Moreover, if you don't have a 16:9 Display, you're in Sh*t's Heaven... http://s12.postimg.org/gratguqf1/RE1_BHHDREMASTERASPECTRATIO.png Yeah... this port doesn't even have aspect ratio support... A basic feature common in PC gaming since... forever...
Controller Support = Support for X360 Controller (which I find to be one of the best to this date)
The problem: The Button Schemes for the Controller are FU*K'D! Some inepts at CAPCOM decided that the GC original Schemes were too good to be true and thus they've changed some buttons functions in the most stupid way possible and made sure that you can't do anything to revert them. Not with buttons remapping, not with custom drivers, not with 3rd party software...
What else... ? Broken/bugged shadows... Some of the areas look like waterpaint fest, the game has locked (1920X1440) internal resolution that you can't change...
Well... I think I've covered the basics...
You haven't covered the basics at all. You've simply listed off the negatives you don't like.
Had me laughing when you're trying to tell the man his GC version will look the same or better on a CRT..
This is essentially the same game you already own, but wth a HD re-vamp. If you want to play the same awesome game but on a modern screen, with the achievements, community, and everything else that comes with modern day re-releases, then buy them game. If you don't care for any of those things, and you're happy to hook the GC up, then there's no need for you to buy it.
The guy above has a reputation for bashing everything about this game here on the forums for whatever reason, so you could do better than to listen to his recommendations.
Make no mistake though, the game does have it's issues, especially with slow-downs for those who's rig only just meets the recommended requirements. Make sure you can play it smoothly before the purchase, but essentially the only thing you need to ask yourself is if you want to play the same game you already own, but with the features already mentioned.
For me personally, I think it's one of the best games ever made, and would happily pay the smallish price tag to have it in my modern games library and playable in 1080p, and I experienced no issues at all when playing through.
Only problem: my GPU is really worse for this game which wonders me cause I can play Resident Evil 4 HD with the same settings as I make it in this game. It's a little bit sad but what can I do? It's still playabel but those slow downs are sometimes really annoying.
Good thing that I want to buy a new PC myself. Hopefully I get it before the Resident Evil 2 Remake comes out.
Same weapons, same items, same maps, same enemies and the same number of expected enemies. With that said- it definetly does not include new cooler things- like better animations or damage localization. Those things aren't a stretch of the imagination at this point...
It would have been nice to change the script, at least do something slightly different... but no. The game plays exactly the same. But it is in PC-quality HD and does look nice. And I did buy the game knowing all this in advance.

See if it works. It's a performance patch for REmaster that unlocks the resolution. The internal resolution is locked at 1920x1080 or something. Put the files inside the game's .exe folder.
This is a Remaster of the 2002 Remake, not a new remake.
One thing though- I've noticed that the GC/Wii version looks darker and grittier, most likely due to the lower resolution. Not an issue at all.

And yes I would say this game is worth it, it looks great and holds up great. The only problem I run into is the ocassional slowmotion but usually I can temporarily get around it by going to the item/health screen then going back into the game or if that doesn't work quitting and rebooting the game seems to fix the slowmo.
Edit: To get that tool going automatically you need to point the tool to where steam has the game, navigate to where you installed-the-tool/REHDHook/Scripts and in a .txt file named Default it should say something like this.
The guy above you... has the reputation of bashing any bad aspects in gaming in general.
Do not confuse that with "everything about this game"... The game itself it's basically the same.
Which means that it's a great game in it's own. Hence the very reason I'm even here at all...
I do not bash the game... I bash the bad porting / technical aspects of it and CAPCOM.
So... better chose your wording more wisely next time. You're not doing any good otherwise.
