Issue with 4:3 aspect ratio not filling screen
Whenever I set this game to 4:3 aspect ratio a good chunk of my screen from all sides is cut off and replaced with black bars (not just the bottom and top). I'm running in a 4:3 resolution of 1024x768 and tried every other 4:3 resolution that my monitor supports and still the same problem. I want the game to fill my whole screen. Does anybody know why this is happening and how I may fix it?

I don't very much like the 16:9 aspect ratio in this game as it cuts off some of my view from the bottom and top.

Yep...happens to everyone else. Expect the same for RE Zero remaster as well judging by the 4:3 gameplay video released. That's how Capcom implements their 4:3 lol. There is a workaround but you'll get ugly and strecthed the hell out menus, inventory and door animations.

I remember some user finding a way to properly fill the screen at 4:3 without stretching the menus and inventory. I tried a whole day to make it work with no success. I tried with REHook too with many configurations, but no success. I think maybe my GPU scaling configuration is screwed or something.

So many PC games has proper 4:3 support but in this one...the one game where is most important... the one game that i really need it...is the one game that Capcom can't do it properly. Sucks.

Thank you for the reply. I'll probably mess around with the settings later and see what I can do about getting the game to scale properly. I've been playing around with the 16:9 ratio lately and I can tolerate it, but it's certainly annoying. Capcom went to the effort to get this game to work on 16:9 displays, yet they gave us an option for 4:3 and it doesn't even work properly... on a game originally built with 4:3 in mind. Makes perfect sense. From what I remember reading online, the game's engine runs natively at 1920x1440 which is a 4:3 ratio. That's funny, Capcom.

I really hope Capcom fixes this, but going by the timestamp on the link you sent me, I'm not not holding any high hopes.

I'm replying to you again directly in the hope that you will see this.

I finally got my aspect ratio where it should be and I'm happy with it. I figured out how I needed to set up REHDHook.

Link to properly set up REHDHook for 4:3 Aspect Ratio:

The person whom posted the information said there would be some left and right cropping. I didn't experience any of this whatsoever. I made multiple comparisons to the game's letterboxed 4:3 and nothing appears cut off. So, I'm happy.

Oh, and just in case you're wondering about my Nvidia GPU scaling settings, I have it set to "Aspect ratio".

Yes! i've tried these same suggestions for a whole day to no avaiable...that was 4 months ago. Now im definitely sure that something is really screwed up in my GPU scaling settings and i'm gonna search for it. Thanks for that!

Why don't CAPCOM fix the resolution errors.

CAPCOM abandoned this game as soon as it was released. It'll never see an update.

So they never patched it, they do know there's a refund option, what about that CAPCOM.
All it would take is a config adjustment for it to be fixed.
That's bad business.

Q: Does the game support widescreen?
A: The aspect ratio can be displayed in one of two ways, and can be changed from the options menu or in-game pause menu under “Display.” “Original” keeps the 4:3 presentation of the original game, and will add black bars to the sides of the screen. “Wide” is a new 16:9 presentation that smoothly scrolls vertically as the character moves across the screen

Is wide for non widescreen monitors.
When you have a widescreen monitor and wide mode on, are there black bars on the screen ?

For a widescreen monitor 1366 x768 and wide mode selected it's full screen.
But in a standard 4:3 monitor, you get a four way black border on screen.

Also if you got a 1024x768 monitor like me, there is the erro9 and crash if you put fullscreen in settings. Also why do they hide the config CRAPCOM.

If you have a 1366x768 monitor I think is 16.9 then you can use fullscreen.
So to play this you need a bigger LCD monitor.

They hid there messed up config file.

I encountered that same problem when I tried going into fullscreen. I think I fixed it by going into %localappdata% (either go into Start or press Winlogo+R, type that in and press Enter) --> CAPCOM --> Resident Evil - biohazard@HD REMASTER --> config and replacing the line "FullScreen=OFF" to "FullScreen=ON", saving, and then booting the game.

Fullscreen worked just fine for me at 1024x768 afterwards.

They say don't mess with it. I did and it gave a fullscreen in 4:3, but then my PC was messed up.
I messed about with hidden folders, good one CRAPCOM.
They should patch it. Lazy!!!

You can now fix it with Reshade. No more hidden detail behind the capcom 16:9 panning!:
