TIPS: How to Fix D3DERR_DEVICELOST Fatal Error on Resident Evil or Black Screen!

I got this when im surfing the dicussion thread, and found this in comment section, and IT'S WORK!!!
"I went to the NVIDIA control panel > Manage 3D settings > Select a program to customize: RE Biohazard HD > Select the preferred graphics processor > integrated graphics."

go to your resident evil folder and right click on the exe. file to see properties. Run the game in compatibility mode whichever version of windows your using and near the bottom check the box that says 680x400 (also DPI box underneath as well) and the game should run fine. If this doesnt work run game as admin s well and if this doesnt work then you may have a dll. file error you need to replace.

that fix did not work for me. Any other ideas?

If this is still an issue, as long as you have xlive.dll in your game directory, go to documents>CAPCOM>Resident Evil 5, and delete the game configuration, then start the game up.
You'll have to redo all your settings, but it'll stay open until you exit and then you'll have to do it all over again, but it's a temp fix.
