After 27 years OG Resident Evil PC rereleases on GOG
So far its on GOG and RE2-3 PC will come soon as well, I can confirm its the original uncut PC US version which has the color intro and uncut cutscenes. Still its not as solid as biohazard media kite with the classic REbirth patch where you have quick turn or the ultimate PowerVR version which runs at 800x600 native (but needs a PowerVr card and its lost) but its the version that should run on all modern machines and I am so happy everyone will get to enjoy this timeless classic. Please 🙏 bring it to steam with achievements alongside Silent Hill 1-3.

That's cool, but I'm more interested in Code Veronica and Zero finally getting some attention.

Same. Those two are my favorites. A remastered CV on PC would be great. A full remake even better!

Yeah, sadly GOG can only do re-releases of games that already existed on PC. I've wanted a port of the RECV remaster to PC for a long time... but I gave up at this point.

They already remastered Code Veronica.

The PS3 version has different lighting and proper widescreen (instead of the stretched PS4 version thats just a port of the PS2)

Definitely. Capcom sleeps on porting their older games to PC, and have to wait until GOG practically begs them to do it for them.

You can apply Classic Rebirth to the GOG version as well.

As long as you choose to install the Japanese version, which they also give to you once you buy it there.

Ah thats awesome which means the ♥♥♥ version is probably Biohazard Media Kite version, the REbirth patch is highly recommended as it adds quick turn and manual reload which are only in the DS version 😁 I just hope GOG will stick to the source next ports of RE2-3 as those have the uncompressed video files but I am fairly confident they know what they are doing. Next would be a decent GoG version of Breath of Fire 4, DMC3 and Mega Man X 1-5 especially of MMX 1 and 3 as those run great on DOS.

I didn't know Steam censored the word '♥♥♥'.

I don't keep up with this sorta thing but I'm 90% positive I've read before that although REbirth was designed around the mediakite version it'll work with any jpn version(since Rebirth comes with it's own exe. There is patch that makes the usa version compatible too on nexusmods.)

I pretty sure the jpn version included with the gog release is an older release and not the mediakite version. Same for RE2 and 3. If you check the gog forums some people been given access to pre-release versions and they've confirmed they aren't the Sourcenext versions, but rather the older og releases.

Have to try that one out as for people concerned about RE2-3 not being SourceNext, it doesnt matter really as RE2-3 already did run fine on modern Systems and you can just patch up the uncompressed videos in any version you like from the SourceNext version by copying and replacing the original video files.

yes although i am waiting for third one but oddly i couldn't find my local usa canada pc re3 for windows 98 but i got european non detachable head kick zombie instead hmm.

There is a patch on Nexus mods that restores the cut content from RE3 Nemesis mainly the head kicking, I think its present in the US Gamecube version thou and of course in Biohazard 3 Last Escape ♥♥♥ version for the playstation thats the fully uncut one.
