Are the MO disks necessary?
Because after the big guy is killed the voice says "Bla bla all doors are unlocked"

Unless you're an achiever. MO disks are side. Get all 3 you save Chris, or Jill. Depends on which character you are. You get an achievement for doing so.

Only if you want to save Chris/Jill.

You can finish the game without doing so.

If (playing Chris) I save Rebecca but not Jill, will that trigger a boss fight at the end?

just use to save Chris/Jill.

I think there is no final boss fight if you save neither. That was the case for the original RE.
