Oh my God dude xD Countless hours trying to figure out a way other than windowed mode.
Gave up and ended up zooming my monitor.
Bought this RE3 copy that never gave me Mercenaries mode after finishing the game. It was FURY all over my house.
Actually I had problems getting RE1 to run in a window:P. I had to patch it and start in software mode. Other than that the bigget problem i got was image stretching in fullscreen (I play on a 16:9 tv) in all games, but after some research I managed to run it with the correct aspect ratio.
As for Mercenaries in RE3 they should be available from the get go as a separate executable, so there's no need to unlock it.
Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 have different scenario. Not only these don't have remakes, but there's also the 2006 Japanese DVD re-releases of both games by Sourcenext which fixed all incompatibilities (especially regarding Resident Evil 2) and could be used for Steam releases if Capcom wishes to. Hardly they would have to do anything with the games except reimplementing the Western translations of both games since those 2006 re-releases were only in Japanese, so it's a easy go for them if they bring up the idea.
To be fair the old and new ports of RE4 are still the same game, which cannot be said about RE1 and Remake, so I would throw them in the same bag. And even if the remake is in every way, shape or form better than the classic it would be a shame if they ommited it if they one day decided to release 2 and 3. And RE3 is pretty much compatible with today's hardware other than some background gliches produced by higher resolutions.
I know both Resident Evil 4 versions are the same game, but under Capcom's policy this is pretty much the same thing and so this Resident Evil HD Remaster of the 2002 Remake is a replacement of sorts for the Classic Resident Evil PC version they did back in the day, so I don't think they will ever bring it back because they would have to rework it to solve a lot of issues and incompatibilities, and then again that version didn't even have many extras like the ones featured in the Deadly Silence version or even the Director's Cut version, so it's pretty much not worth it.
I still have the original PC version and I wouldn't mind having it re-released on Steam, but I believe that's Capcom's way of thinking about it. Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 may be considered differently though, because of what I said.
Ideally, I'd hope for definitive releases, across PC and console alike, incorporating everything from the various releases of RE1-3, various native rendering options, updated button prompts (with Xinput support on PC), full Steamworks/PSN/XBL integration (leaderboards, achievements/trophies, cards on Steam), the whole nine yards, but unfortunately, that's probably so super unlikely unless REmaster does insanely well, and even then, it's more likely they'd only be barebones re-releases.
Not that that wouldn't be nice too, don't get me wrong... being able to play the classics natively on PC with less hassle would be great still, but by far, it's not really the treatment I think the originals are worthy of. And I think that kind of "definitive" edition of the classics would be highly valued by fans, tenfold more so than just a fairly basic re-release.
But I think I'll be waiting on that for as long as I'll be waiting for Megaman on Steam :( lol
Mine is and always was good 'ol Billy B. I have to admit that I always cheated my way though RE3- played Mercenaries until i got the rocket launcher before starting the campaign. Actually to me Mercs is the best part of this game- certainly had more fun playing this than the main mode.
Yeah, couldn't fully grasp the dodge mechanic and always got killed on the first encounter with Nemesis:P. And I was to brave to run away:P.
