Unfortunately as far as I've searched, it's only emulations at the moment. I'd love to have the original games in my steam library, but it seems they've been forgotten or archived in favour of the remakes to provide an entirely "HD" collection of the series without the ability to play the original games, which sucks because the original RE3 was better than its remake that chops parts of the original game out entirely.

The RE HD remaster is very faithful and adds to the original but in stunning graphics even almost 20 years after the 2002 gamecube release, and RE2 remake was definitely impressive, and since we're due a RE4 remake on the horizon, that can be expected to appear on the steam store when it is released. Let's just hope it's a better remake than RE3 was.

I'd really like them to do a "legacy collection" of the classic games, but I don't know how feasible that would be. I'd happily buy RE1 + RE2, and then RE3 + CV as two separate collections, even.

I want a collection that contains RE1 Directors cut, RE2 Dual Shock (For the extra game mode), RE3 and RE Code Veronica X.

I would also prefer them to be 4:3 res for accuracy to the originals.

This would be a dream. Steam has the original Tomb Raider games and I know it might not be the same but why can't they have the original Resident Evil games? Maybe it's Capcom? I know there was a PC port of the original Resident Evil with its own exclusive costumes you could unlock. Were there PC ports of the other PS1 games?

Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3 were all ported to PC.

They were all ported to PC, and since they can't be acquired anywhere (on their PC versions) they're considered abandonware. There's abandonware websites.

All are available for PC except for code Veronica which has never received a PC version.

To OP,

if you still have a CD Player on your computer, you can go to some selling sites (CDiscount, E-Bay, etc) to find old REs CDs

By this way, I have all the 3 (RE1, 2 & 3) old fashion games.

"Were there PC ports of the other PS1 games?"

Yes, there are ports on PC of Resident Evil 1 but also 2, 3.

For Code Veronica, I don't think.
That last one, I have it on Console & on PC by Emulation.

I think Code Veronica is also available on Playstation Now, if you're into that.
If you have a PS3 I think 1,2 and 3 are avalible in the psn store. Also, ps3 is retrocompatible with ps1, so you can always buy a second-hand ps1 game and play it in ps3
