Doorknob broke, can't find a way past it
https://i.imgur.com/itRIWT9.jpg so the door next to that save room that I'm in broke and I can't get through, problem is that's the only direction I've found that I can progress in. I only have the sword key, no other keys. I do have the dog whistle and a bag of stuff that can grow plants, do I have to use one of those? I can't seem to find any other way around where this door leads. Am I just ♥♥♥♥♥♥?

upstairs go left then right through the door, next hallway 1 way goes to the end of the hallway to another door the other way off camera should proceed to the other side of the hall.

General info: This game is not like some of the older point-and-click adventures where you can play yourself into a "corner" where it is impossible to get items you need to advance and therefore have to resort to an earlier savegame.

I say this because every once in a while people insist that this can happen in REmake and can't be convinced otherwise.

But the game allows backtracking to ANY location, thus you can never miss an item for good. For the same reason, there will also always be an accessible itembox where you can put down stuff in case your inventory is full (and you need to pick up something else to advance).

The only situations where you can be "logically" ♥♥♥♥♥♥ are when you're in an unskippable bossfight without ammo and without a knife: Crimson head elder, Plant 42, second Yawn encounter, first tyrant. (In the last tyrant fight, you could simply wait until the timer is at 40 seconds, then you'll get the rocket launcher.)

the part about you can never miss an item for good is only true for important key items tough. some other loot is actually permenantly missable like the stuff in the shotgun room when you use the jill sandwich method to get the shotgun for example. as that room becomes perma off limits afterwards. now if you mean its not possible to get stuck keywise then yeah. thats absolutly impossible to happen (tech issues aside of course)

Even the NG+ Super Big Boy Hard Mode that disconnects the item boxes also fixes that door so you still can’t get stuck. The game’s design is flawed, but perfectly functional.

You could, but you’d really have to be trying.

Also, I’m not sure it’s actually a beta. If it is, it’s certainly one of the later ones.

What I mean is, I think the disconnected item boxes and lack of auto aim were features of the beta for the original PS1 game. I know Invisible Enemy mode was based on an early, scrapped REmake idea though, so it’s anyone’s guess.

Also, if Real Survival were to leave that doorknob breakable, it would be possible to enter the east wing through the art gallery, put the Sword key in the west wing’s item box, and then break the doorknob without unlocking the second floor east door, leaving yourself locked in the east wing and the game unwinnable.

If Real Survival were to include beta versions of puzzles and level structure, a lot more than that knob would be different.

Thanks! And nah, you need it whichever side you’re approaching from.
