Which character to start with?
Gameplay wise, I think Jill is likely to be designed as the first character people play. Considering you have Barry helping you and giving you direction early on... Chris kinda just gets left alone with no direction early.

She's also easier on the ey... I mean easier to play early on.

What do you guys think?

Chris has less room, but he is strong and can take more hits.

Jill has more room, but can take less hits.

Barry helps Jill a lot

Rebecca helps Chris sometimes.

It has a lot to do with preference, if you think you're going to get hit a lot, Chris is better. If you think you're going to need more room for items and health, go with Jill.

Personally I think Jill is a better choice for a start.
Well, apart from the secondary difficulty selection (which is a super neat feature in this game), I think gameplay introduction wise Jill is a better design choice.

Jill is definitely the easier of the two campaigns from what I remember (though I've never finished the remake, that's definitely how it was in the original).

Since you have to play on Normal (or below) first, Jill's lower HP shouldn't be much of an issue, and she's better for travelling the map on a blind playthrough since she requires less backtracking.

So you can leave Chris for your Hard playthrough. Once you know more or less what you're doing you won't miss the two extra slots that much.
