Trove
Nostalgia
I originally started Trove back in 2016, and recently got nostalgic and reinstalled it to find that, my character is gone. I remember seeing them say "We don't delete characters, you must have logged into the wrong account" But, the email i used was the only one i had back then, and i played through steam. I quit in 2019 or 2020, so it wasn't crazy long since I last opened the game.

I don't particularly want to restart, i was mainly curious how the game was doing, what it was like nowadays, and ultimately what my character was like, as I didn't quite remember what all I had.

My character's name was Hatedchild, I was asked to make a name when opening the game, so i reused it. I know there's virtually no chance of getting it back, but my point stands.

There was a server migration where many players data get corrupted. You can always try to ask in Gamigo Support website.

Ever since the Luminopolis update, the gameplay loop is merely about farming loots with as much Magic Find as possible, and looting all Stellar gears for Flux. There was a healthy relationship between Credit Pouches supply and F2P players, so the game was playable.

====[Moving Faster]====
The Delves update introduced more movement speed buffs, a not so friendly weekly raid dungeon, which many newplayers still struggle to understand nowadays. It is meant to replace "Shadow Tower".

====[Sun Rise]====
Shadow Archer rework and Sunrise update do brings up the peak. But the gameplay loop was not developing into a healthy direction. Many alt accounts AFK in Sunrise dungeon to grind "Paragon levels" for Crystal rings materials.

Although there are some class rework and changes, the lack of commitment and interaction with creative community is a factor that decrease the playerbase. Including common server complains.

This is also when we get less and less Credit packs that features costumes and collectibles made by other modders.

====[Retirement]====
If you look at further update patches, it's just new things to grind, but not polishing many existing mechanics. Long story to cover.

The official Trove server has more interaction among the community I believe. But many players have retired.

I won't say it is a bad game. You have free choice. But many players I know there have move on into other games. You might see a lot of alt accounts, players moving super fast, a very long dungeon I mentioned, but some other cool stuffs too.

From the Credit Pouch vs F2P player relationship however, I would say it is not really worth to delve too deep into it. But the game is free anyway. I wish you the best regardless of ur choice. 👍

I appreciate this reply, it was extremely useful, I liked trove back in the day, even if i used it mainly for socializing. I played 90% f2p, maybe bought a few cosmetics, I contacted them and they offered to restore my account, so I hope it works.
Good luck!
