If you have that big of a player base where people being afk for more than 10 minutes would cause server wide lag then maybe it would be time to upgrade the servers.
Yes, Because insults and cheap language are far superior to discussing this like rational adults.
He has a point, The servers ARE feeling the strain lately.
Okay maybe not an hour, but I've never played an online MMO where I get kicked because I had to step away from my computer for a little bit to do a task. I'm just saying it's unreasonable. And maybe their servers could handle a longer wait time and maybe more players if they upgraded. For instance, ever notice how somtimes while mining the block re-appear and you need to mine again? Or sometimes enemies will randomly teleport a few feet away because of lag? I doubt it's a game bug. If anything their servers are trying to keep up with the player base. The game is great and more people should play but it will be difficult if the servers won't be able to keep up.
Like, since this game came out on steam a month ago, there's been nearly three million new players, according to Steam stats. That's very hard to just adjust to.
Fair point, I wish they would at least tell the community though if they're doing something about it.
And smoking break are a pain
Edit: Actually... 15 minutes sounds better
While their servers clearly need an upgrade, the issue here isn't their servers, it's your time management. I'm glad of the small AFK limit even though it frustrates me at times - because don't want people like you clogging up the servers just because you can't figure out how to toilet yourself and eat food like a big person. Or even worse, because you think you're more important than everyone else.
Sometimes life interrupts, like someone comes to the door, or your parents/kids **** with your time.
Guess what? EVERY single other person who plays the game has to deal with ALL of this as well. And some of them are children, and don't complain about childish stuff, even though *they'd* have a good excuse.
So this is what's going to happen: You're going to consider me a troll purely because I don't agree with you, and you'll ignore me, possibly even report me for laying the truth down. Then you'll go back into the game and STILL not be able to AFK for an hour. (BTW - that's called 'taking a break' - adults reserve the phrase 'Away From Keyboard' to mean many things, none of which should ever be 'Hey, just leaving my toon here for an hour because this world has the biome I want and I don't care if someone else can't log in for the hour while I do that because that's the type of person that I am '.)
Then, you will either quit or keep playing. Maybe play some other MMOs so you can see how laughable your idea is in the real world.
And the AFK will still not be lengthened.
Meanwhile, people will be having fun and laughing, but you'll still be complaining because you can't stop playing and get yourself lunch nachos (or any other tasty snack) without - SHOCK HORROR - the universe forcing you to log in, for free, into a free game, again, for free.
Oh, the freakin' humanity of it all - someone call Amnesty International!
Thanks for the chuckles, kid - never change.
(No, I DIDN'T have to be a jerk about it. That's also free. If you think my attitude's self-entitled, maybe check your own out too.)
Transparency is a large issue in online gaming, especially Free-To-Play models where the publisher doesn't necessarily own the game itself. :/
No excuse to be AFK in 2015? Lots of them. Lets say you have a dog and it just ♥♥♥♥ in the house. Stop playing? NO EXCUSE. It's 2015, ♥♥♥♥ having a life because in this day and age we're all lazy fat ♥♥♥♥♥ like yourself with nothing better to do than waste away life on a game. Nice argument ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
And if 1 person, literally just the one causes someone to not join a biome, then that's a ♥♥♥♥ up on the Dev's part, not the gamer. If you have such small servers that someone who is away for 15 minutes quickly doing a task causes another person to not at all join a game then you fcuked up devs, big time.
And look at other MMO's: Rift, Tera, WoW, Wildstar, FF14:RR. ALL of these do not kick you for being AFK for any amount of time. Why? BECAUSE THE SERVERS CAN HANDLE THE PLAYERS. Who gives a ♥♥♥♥ how many people are AFK when your servers are just fine and candle handle the load. No server wide lag on those games my friend.
I'll say it again. The AFK time should be extended at MAX 30MIN. And upgrade the damn servers. The only thing this 5 min timer is doing is a cheap way for them to not have to upgrade to handle more people. the game could load up in 20 seconds for all I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ care. If I'm far away. FAR away from spawn and I wanna grab a drink and let the dog outside. I shouldn't be penalized. That is flawed. Case and Point.
No, Wait... You'd have no clue about that..
..Anal retentive individuals don't vacate. :V
