F*cking quality gameplay folks.
It's because the whole idea of a "megaserver" is absolute ♥♥♥♥ and is an idea that needs to be eradicated from existence.
It's because the two servers (NA & EU servers; there are only one of each) running the game are also pretty bad.
If you want to see just how bad the whole idea of a "megaserver" is, go to Trion's Network Troubleshooting page. There, they list the IP addresses of their servers so you can run a ping test, check to see if you have packet loss, etc.
There, you will find the IP addresses of Trove's NA server (Dallas), and EU (no idea of the location) server. Do the following if you run Windows:
1. Hold the Windows key + R on your keyboard, type in "cmd" and press enter. This brings up a command prompt.
2. When the command prompt appears (little black window) type: tracert [server IP] and press enter. When entering the server IP, don't use brackets.
This will show you how many hops it takes for you to contact the Trove server whose IP address you entered, if there's any packet loss, and what your latency to the server is.
Now, I told you that to tell you this: when the servers are running, if I go in-game my latency is never below 220ms, and very often above 300ms. If I run that tracert to the NA server, my response time is 56-65ms.
That is how bad the whole "megaserver" idea is. Maybe in another kind of online game it would work, but not this one.
Until Trion realizes that a "megaserver" is not the way to do this, the latency, disconnects, crashing, etc., will not stop. It will continue, despite half of the game's players being gone. The Steam player peaks for any given day are a LAUGHABLE amount compared to when it was released.
