You can start collecting gems at level 10 I believe?
There's three types of elements, water, air, and fire.
You'll notice there's new portals and new ubers since the level cap is now level 30. In uber 3, you will start to see a Drowned World portal which you can grind for gem boxes which will give you a gem according to what element you'r'e playing in.
In the Hub: In ubers 3-9, you will see drowned portals. For the cursed skyland portals, it will be in ubers 5-9. For Igneous portals,you will see them in ubers 7-9.
For the prime portals which are the red portals, they will drop a gem box that contains all the elements but will not drop 100%. In the elemental worlds, boxes will sometimes drop once after one dungeon or two 100%.
You'll notice in the store (not market), you will see there's a gems tab. In there, you can buy a gem booster box for 500 cubits each which you have a chance of getting gem dust from it, boosts (the ones you see in the store that are credits only) or even better, the empowered gem boxes which has terrible RNG... giving you a radiant or steller empower gem (used for the bigger gem slots which you unlock your first one at level 21), class key gem, prism light (used for unlocking a vfx's for your steller hat)
Steller is the highest gear tier in Trove.

I can tell you right now, Shadow Hunter and Boomeranger are overrated. Some classes also have terrible class gems as well so pick wisely. From what I heard, Dracolyte doesn't really have a great gem ability.
