I'm looking for the leveling up, equipment, quests etc part, not building but thanks
Considering how much hours I spent on Trove, (2k hours), I only spent 85 dollars so far. It's also possible to get from 5k to 10k pr without having to pay for anything. Just avoiding to pay for something will only make your game-play progression slow. Trove is more like a pay to rush mmorpg.
Terraria if you want to switch to a skill based 2d combat game
pay to reduce grind is often called/considered p2w
It also has patron, which does offer actual advantages
1. Classes
Classes used to be sold in cubits and credits. Since that day classes were changed to being sold to credits, a lot of people complained about it. What people should realize is you can get a class coin from the market with flux (prices will change so i can't say how much they normally cost). You can get a free Cloromancer from doing an early Rift quest. Then there's the refer a friend system although you can only refer one player if under 20. People just need to be patient and grind for flux if you really want another class because if you play without paying for the game, it's just a slower progression. What I listed had nothing to do with buying credits, packs, etc.
2. Gems
Boosters are sold in credits and were used to be sold in cubits when it was in PTS. Want more boosters free? Do the contests but it really depends if you are putting effort to the contests. As of this week until Monday, its Defeating enemies. According to your rank/score, you will be eligible for the items off to the side when you open up your leaderboards. Another way to get some boosters is fill your daily star bar to get 500 cubits if non-patron, if you have patron, you get 1500 cubits. With those cubits, you can pretty much buy a gem booster box for 500 cubits and at least get some boosters. I literally mentioned nothing about spending for credits there.
There's probably more reasons out there why people think its p2w but these are the most topics that people complain about calling Trove p2w. Personally, i don't think it is yet. It may suck but oh, people are never satisfied with Trove anyways so that's not my problem to deal with.
About the Classes, they should make Class Coins a Drop in Chaos Chests. Make them a rare drop from the chest. That way you could get classes for free without relying on someone to have bought a class coin from the store to put on the market. That could also increase sales in Chaos Chests. Just a thought.

Overall this game is NOT pay 2 win. Its pretty easy to get around the so called pay wall (Doesnt exist btw). You only have to pay if you want to make progress faster than the standard player, even then you can get 30 day patron passes from the market if you do some good ol MMO grinding.
Stop complaining about the non existent pay wall and just play the game.
I know I just wanted to see the OP's opinion why he thinks this game is P2W.
There is nothing P2W about this game, this game is all about collecting stuff and making your character strong, which you can get it done by normally playing the game.
And gems? You can't pay to get high PR on your character it's all personal work to get your character strong.
Just so you know OP i got purple name as a free 2 play player ;)
