Anyway, to me yours is a difficult question. Out of the first three doors, Id choose the first. Some say first door is slow and even slightly boring, but I love the story telling, and I really didnt expect merryful Nelly to be so twisted. Although the 2nd door comes close because of the same reasons. Also, the murder of the second "beast" killed me. It really did. As for the rest of the VN, I also loved the part of Michel and Giselle in the mansion, probably because of the music tracks, and also the tale of Morgana (the one she herself tells) .
Oh, well, I am not sure this answer may help satisfy any of your curiosity, but this VN has had such a big impact on me, from the first word to the last one, that I simply cant choose a single door or chapter.
Thx for participations I appreciate that :)
Though I personally found the third door the weakest IMO; it was one of the only reveals I was able to predict, and it didn't help that I detested Jacopo's character in that chapter either. Well that all changed after finishing the game (damn you Jacopo, I like him.. but I don't.. but I do LOL). I think that scene where after he asks for Morgana to smile at him (and understandably she couldn't), then he shows that first & last smile while he says goodbye.. that really got to me.
I also genuinely loved Michel and Giselle's relationship. They're so sweet and awkward with each other, and their love really tugged at my heartstrings. Giselle's song (from the OST) amplified that during their scenes.
My absolute favourite part was probably Michel's back-story chapter though. I think the scene where it shows how he felt he was betrayed by his beloved brothers (from his original perspective) and being killed by Didier himself just tore my heart out. He kept telling himself not to cry, but he couldn't help it. Then it shows that CG of all 3 of them together, with a tear rolling down his child counterpart's cheek; that really hurt. I felt so genuinely bad for Michel (considering how much his brothers meant to him).
My other fave part was that scene where Michel has that final showdown with the 3 guys. That CG with all 3 at the dinner table is probs my fave CG from the game. It definitely felt intense.
Aaand I'm gonna shut up now, cause I could go on forever about this game haha
But the best thing about it is the text log. I've never seen anyone talk about it, so I'm not sure if people didn't notice it or it just didn't stand out as much as I did, but there's a lot of interesting things when you scroll back during the fourth door. The way the text X's out the fake parts, the mysterious conversation, and a few other lines of text you can see only when you scroll back, all alert you to the fact that something is very wrong and make so much more sense once you go back and reread them. There's also some red text at the beginning of the door's story by Morgana but I only saw it in my second playthrough so I have no idea if it's there the first time around. Either way it was such a cool touch and really added to the experience for me.
My overall ranking for the chapters looks something like this, though the middle section of the ranking is definitely a grey area: 5 > 8 > 3 > 7 > 6 = 1 = 4 >2.
Comments here are speking my mind basicly. I think that everything had its own place in this novel. Breaking through illusions and reality, uncovering all the diffrent piecies about each character.
This wouldn't be possible if story was changed. Everything had purpose for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ our emotions towards all characters. Starting with hate, disgust, and ending on pity, sympathy and sometimes admiration.
Even I was surprised that I could understand Yukimasa. His partially lost mind with shadow of guilt for his murders. Done and before done. After speking his mind I couldn't describe him as deranged beast or psychopath. He just looked like a lost human being. With still many secrets not even known for him.
It demands a lot of courage to make story based on time travels looking reliable for all characters development. It really left a feeling of an incredible journey with many diffrent stories from diffrent perspectives.
PS: Well and I am gonna look forward to prequel I hope it will give some new light on that known already story. Although I am not gonna expect too much :)
Oh gosh, that scene was so powerful. The song that plays (called Portrait of White) was excellent in building that tension and the song's name suits the scene rather well
This well-written article basically echoes my thoughts on this theme: https://nemuromemorialhall.wordpress.com/2016/08/05/redemption-without-forgiveness-the-house-in-fata-morgana/
If we are talking just of the base game, i can say i loved Door 1, 5 and 7.
- I loved the presentation of the White Haired Girl in door 1, so rich with mistery about her figure.
- Nothing to explain about love story Giselle + Michel xD
- and the past of Michel/Michelle, i was really excited of Michel growing and feeling these urges inside him. I like to think his "intersex" state means that he is both female AND male.....because i've totally fell inlove with HER while we thought she was female XD
