Deluxe and Ultimate Question(s)
Can somebody please clarify what these DLCs add? They mention an "Allied" army campaign, a German one, and a Russian one. It says you unlock the Allied army with Basic, but you only unlock it with Deluxe? what? Same with the other two. Who are the Allies, if not the three factions already available? Aren't the Germans and Russians already playable online? I've been playing a bunch of local skirmish with bots, and I have only been playing as the US, but I can choose Germany and Russia from the list. I come from Company of Heroes 2 and none of the other factions were available until you bought them. Can you only play AS these ones when you buy them? Like, what's the difference between "... Army" and "... Faction Unlock?"

Additionally, I want to know what the DLCs do, aside from the campaigns. I've read reviews and they're all mostly old and I don't really know what to make of it. Are the new Factions good? What is the "Allied" army and what do they add? What does Russia add, or Germany? Are the DLCs worth it for a singleplayer experience? I'm a casual player, and don't play online.

I may have missed some things, but I can't really nail what the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions add, and if they're worth it.

Thanks.

first of all the base game factions are the USA and the GRM which both are included in the basic edition.

you can play dlc factions for free (once the beta for that faction is over) in skirmishes against the AI and multiplayer but since you do not own the faction DLC you have to level up the faction in order to get access to better units, until the factions are leveled up certain units are simply locked for you and you can not use them.

the DLC give you access to the campaings (allied army dlc is the GRM campaign) and fully unlock the factions unit roster right from the start without the need to level up the factions to unlock units.

(in my opinion thats still better than not being able to play the factions at all unless you buy the dlcs like it is in company of heroes and lots of other games)

the allied armie dlc fully unlocks the unit roster of the 2 minor factions, the UAF and the REBELS who do not get thair own campaigns since they are only minor factions

if you want all the campaigns and unit rosters fully unlocked you need either the basic edition + the season pass or the ultimate edition (the only difference between those two options are the other goodies from the deluxe edition)

also ultimate edition owners get a additional discount for the Gates of Hell DLC which is a standalone game developed by a different company that is only sold as DLC for Call to Arms for engine license reason and therefore is not included in the season pass.

I've only played as the United States thus far, so now knowing that the rosters are locked behind levels it's kind of disheartening. Reminds me of Command and Conquer 4.

Since I won't play online, I'll only get 50% experience (or 15% in the case of one of the other modes). I think I'll have no choice but to buy the Ultimate. I was recommended Gates of Hell and I do like the WWII theatre.. so the discount would be nice I guess.

I suppose when I tire of playing as the US Army I will buy the Ultimate Edition. Thank you.

One final question:
How are all the campaigns? Are they worth it? A lot of reviews say they're lazy.

Hey! I just posted this:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/400750/discussions/0/5400412918958752496/

I was asking questions about Gates of Hell, because I am considering buying it and the DLCs. I scrapped the whole Ultimate Edition idea for Call to Arms because I realized I probably wouldn't ever play as any of the other factions.

If you could answer some of those questions above I'd appreciate it heaps! Thanks!
