Jumping over barriers
I've been curious if the jumping over barriers is intentionally left with manual control or if it would be better suited to be automated?

Like when you're in cover behind a short wall, and you issue a command to run elsewhere, but the path would be faster jumping over the wall, shouldn't they automatically do so?

Is it intentionally done for added micro or is it more of a coding limitation?

It's been this one thing that's been bugging me from mowas and wanted to get some input on the matter from the more veteran players / devs. Thanks.

I wish it was automated.

Yes, we should clearly consider it. It won't be easy to do though.
Well id assume if unit is in sprint mode and there is a barrier blocking their pathfinding to jump over it otherwise they would go around it normally. seems like the best way to do it.

Company of Heroes has the same thing, you have to manually make units leap over things. Im sure you guys could do it though :D

If it is to be done, then this would be most appealing.

this would make everything easier, especially for squad movement.

Stupid question: how to jump over ?
I have this probleme, but did not find the keyboard short cut (there is this kind of arrow sometime that appears and was never able to activate it...)
Noob question, sorry...

If you were too jump over barriers automatically they would need a command from the squad leader and if you were to encounter a vehicle on the way you would be over cover already. So it's better too stop and wait at cover for further orders. I would find it very frustrating having my infantry killed all the time every time they would autopmatically jump over every cover before waiting further orders unless if you'd double clicked or something.

as of right now you can't, this game was built on a RTS game engine. Not that type of engine you tyically see in Call of duty or Battlefield game. The engine of this game has been heavily modified to allow the FPS feature. That feature is (according to many players) still flunky. Well you know the engine has reached its limit
Being able to "lean" left and right around corners is top of my FPS wishlist, that and replacement of the awful sprinting animation we still have to endure :cta_emo4:

Hi Kris, the arrow you speak of is the only way to do it presently and only when not in direct control. The screenshot below shows my soldier climbing over a stone fence. What the screenshot does not show is the mouse cursor changing to an orange arrow animation. Basically select your soldiers, move the mouse over the wall you wish to climb, and when you see the orange arrow, right click and your soldiers will climb over the wall.

For whatever reason i was unable to climb back the other way. So it is a bit hit and miss and may have something to do with the slope of the ground.
