C4 / IED - Remote Explosions
The current C4 is kinda boring, its exactly the same as the dynamite from Men of War, this should be changed to make it more exciting, fun and useful.

What I propose is that C4's when thrown/set an icon will appear ontop of the C4, the icon would probably be reminiscent of the shields that you see ontop of squads, and if you press it, it will instantly detonate the C4. Also make C4's sticky so it can be planted on vehicles.

Dev's please consider!

Would bring so much more to the explosive system and like OP says could be used for IED's, C4 and proper detonation of Claymores - and so many possibilities for modding :steamhappy:

Interesting for what C4 in game ? I put in ( as can closer) to enemy tank - zero effect. I hope its coud be used for destruction enemy tanks ( for total distruction) but its arent work....

I'm not so sure about utilizing C4 as suggested in this thread; in real-life, C4 is used as breaching/demolition targets against static structures (buildings, weapons stockpiles, etc) or soft-skinned targets (planes, utility or transport vehicles, and so on).

Furthermore, it's literally impossible to throw a wad of C4 at a target, have it "stick", and detonate it. C4 must be manually set and armed (although it can be detonated from a distance). ;)

That said, having it just act as dynamite from the MoW games would feel lacking, as well. I'm interested to see how DMS would make the high-explosive-equivalent item feel "right" in Call to Arms.

EDIT: Oops, apologies; I didn't realize this thread was nearly a year old!

It's important! The C4 sucks atm!

Imagine Seals laying breaching charges to the sides of buildings or tanks, or GRM having IEDs they can detonate remotely.

needs an update.

C4 wouldn't do anything against a MBT... the myth that C4 blows up tanks is one that is perpetuated by games like BF or other less-realistic options.

If you get lucky you might detrack the tank or something... but for C4 to have any real impact on a tank you would need to get the C4 INSIDE the tank. Putting it on the outside would only give the tankers a mild concussion, if they notice it at all.

I agree that C4 doesn't have much of a use now, but like Eching pointed out, it doesn't realistically have a chance of destroying armored vehicles; it's a high explosive weapon, not an armor-piercing one. If more static emplacements are added to the game, or if DMS adds an "Attack/Defend Structure"-type game mode, then that may give C4 a role.

Similarly, I'm not crazy about the idea of IEDs. "Ha ha your entire squad was obliterated with no chance to defend itself and with no risk to myself" doesn't strike me as being good for gameplay. :p

Completely support, this would add so many possibilities, especially with the amazing destruction system we have at the moment.

I wish we could strap c4 on vehicle to make suicide bombs. This is going to big thing to add. please do

6 years, and we still have to make do with the old L+L trick!

I doubt C4 wouldnt kill an MBT. It wouldnt penetrate the front armor, or side turret armor on many MBTs. If you got it on the side skirts, at best you would detrack it, but if it was on the roof, the rear engine deck, or even the upper hull, the explosion would absolutely destroy the engine, maybe light it on fire, could damage the gun barrel, optics and various sights. The explosion might cave in the roof, tank turret roofs are not thick, being maybe an inch thick, or 25mm at most. Whats not very likely, is being able to actually put on the tank anywhere useful, since you would never get that close.

C4 could totally decimate lighter vehicles like BTRs and LAVs. Those are not that thick armor wise, and the explosion of enough c4, im pretty sure could cause the armor plates to break.

If you want victim triggered IEDs you can drop the c4 on the ground (not using like a grenade, drop it without arming it) and then place a claymore near the dropped c4.

Strong necro, but I agree I think there is some wasted potential with the C4 in this game, it would be really cool if you could place it on the ground, or on walls, or even on vehicles, and then either detonate it by clicking on it whenever you want, or have the option of a timer like we have now. Maybe if suicide vehicles with C4 strapped all over them are a concern, then you would only have the option of a timer like we have now if placed on vehicles.

Imagine IRL special forces trying to breach a door, so one guy throws a brick of C4 at it, it bounces off the door, and everyone dives for cover lol, that's how I see it working in game.

IRL Spec Ops wouldnt "throw it at the door", they would walk up, place it and then detonate the hell out of it. Or use some other fancy gizmo, like a door breaching shotgun shell. Alternately, they might just go with a good solid kick with thier size 20 combat boot.

BUt C4 in this game, it would be cool if we could lay it as a timed charge, just like you can in Company of Heroes. Then when something rolls by, blow it by clicking on the big flashy Detonate button.
