Dev's please consider!
Would bring so much more to the explosive system and like OP says could be used for IED's, C4 and proper detonation of Claymores - and so many possibilities for modding
Furthermore, it's literally impossible to throw a wad of C4 at a target, have it "stick", and detonate it. C4 must be manually set and armed (although it can be detonated from a distance). ;)
That said, having it just act as dynamite from the MoW games would feel lacking, as well. I'm interested to see how DMS would make the high-explosive-equivalent item feel "right" in Call to Arms.
EDIT: Oops, apologies; I didn't realize this thread was nearly a year old!
Imagine Seals laying breaching charges to the sides of buildings or tanks, or GRM having IEDs they can detonate remotely.
needs an update.
If you get lucky you might detrack the tank or something... but for C4 to have any real impact on a tank you would need to get the C4 INSIDE the tank. Putting it on the outside would only give the tankers a mild concussion, if they notice it at all.
Similarly, I'm not crazy about the idea of IEDs. "Ha ha your entire squad was obliterated with no chance to defend itself and with no risk to myself" doesn't strike me as being good for gameplay. :p
I doubt C4 wouldnt kill an MBT. It wouldnt penetrate the front armor, or side turret armor on many MBTs. If you got it on the side skirts, at best you would detrack it, but if it was on the roof, the rear engine deck, or even the upper hull, the explosion would absolutely destroy the engine, maybe light it on fire, could damage the gun barrel, optics and various sights. The explosion might cave in the roof, tank turret roofs are not thick, being maybe an inch thick, or 25mm at most. Whats not very likely, is being able to actually put on the tank anywhere useful, since you would never get that close.
C4 could totally decimate lighter vehicles like BTRs and LAVs. Those are not that thick armor wise, and the explosion of enough c4, im pretty sure could cause the armor plates to break.
Imagine IRL special forces trying to breach a door, so one guy throws a brick of C4 at it, it bounces off the door, and everyone dives for cover lol, that's how I see it working in game.
IRL Spec Ops wouldnt "throw it at the door", they would walk up, place it and then detonate the hell out of it. Or use some other fancy gizmo, like a door breaching shotgun shell. Alternately, they might just go with a good solid kick with thier size 20 combat boot.
BUt C4 in this game, it would be cool if we could lay it as a timed charge, just like you can in Company of Heroes. Then when something rolls by, blow it by clicking on the big flashy Detonate button.
