Tank has armor thickness, your shell did not have the penetration to go through it and there fore you get 0 effect. Also, also, you might see: 600 Armor, while your pen is like 900, but still bouncing, thats because the armor is angled and stuff, increasing the effective thickness of the armor. There is no internal crew damage in this game....
Then, theres the fact that base game armor is way to high and penetration falls off way to fast, so yeah, tanks are generally pretty much invulnerable in this game.....its why combat is so tedious.
Your only real hope is get around the sides of the tank with AP and shoot it in the side hull a few times. Dont aim for the turret, aim for the hull. Only hull shots kill the tank, turret shots will simply disable the turret. Hit it in the engine enough it lights on fire as well.
If you do need to know where to shoot tanks. HEAT shells to the turret ring will jam the turret on Russian T- series Also on Russian T- tanks, HEAT shells to the lower plate, and on the Abrams, HEAT into the gap under the gun. You have to direct control it, since your AI will default to the very useless AP shells and just sit there bouncing off each other for 5 years.....dont fire HEAT into the sides of tank hulls, as the tracks tend to eat your shot and you get no damage. Autocannons and HMGs I think can detrack tanks.
YEah, the armor models are pretty fubar on some tanks, T-90M is one of them. The lower plate and also, somewhere around the turret ring are fubar. The T-90M is not NEARLY as tanky as its armor values would imply. AT Missiles are also more effective in this game for some reason, at least when they arent hitting spaced armor, like tracks....no the ERA panels dont do anything for you lol...
Also, yeah, infantry AT is an absolute joke in vanilla lol. If the AT infantryman even stays alive long enough or gets in range to fire off 3-4 shots....shooting it in the ass, your actually going through the engine health. Sooooo, its 1000 for the engine health then 1000 points of wrecked engine health until it lights on fire and explodes.
Unmodded game.
Not a clue, dont have the game. No, I was talking all about this Call to Arms game.
