The brain dead AI are sadly a thing in Call to Arms. For example, in skirmish, my guys won't shoot an enemy one meter in front of my units. In some singleplayer missions the AI are sometimes competent. There are so many problems other than the AI DMS need to fix though.
But fear not, if Call to Arms; Gates of Hell is successful they will rework the AI and make both Call to Arms and Call to Arms; Gates of Hell better.
Because MoWAS2 works. Its really excellent. And the AI is very good - enemy and friendly. There's not really a major gripe I have with it.
Perhaps the single-player is a little under-cooked and unbalanced as the AI is relentless on some levels. Once you take flags it should slow the enemy reinforcements in my opinion - they should tweak that. Other games that have similar mechanics do work like that, so no reason this game should not.
Thanks for the head up I'll try turning that off
They are a community development studio and they work on gates of hell since about 2015.
People often praise mods for being way better than the vanilla game, although I would not call gates of hell a mod i still think that since it gets developed by a community development studio formed by a group of modders who works on gates of hell in their free time and without a budget they now have the opportunity to proofe those claims to be right or wrong. :)
Now to call to arms: it's not supposed to be mow as2 in a modern setting, it's it's own thing, a new IP.
I personally like it a lot, especially when controlling vehicles in 1st and 3rd person.
Whats with grenadiers?? Theyre always shooting grenades like goonba's?! How do you get them to switch to firing their rifle?
No you don't need CTA installed to play GoH. Just tried it.
In other words they can not use their rifle.
The AI is awful. They have a 5 second memory, and will often engage in a fire fire fight and and duck behind cover or retreat, then after a couple of seconds casually walk back to there placement spawn forgetting there is someone shooting at them. Its terrible.
The AI just dont seem as aware at all compared with MoW:AS2. I mean theres a fire fight going on and the AI that are say 100 yards away will be blissfully unaware...?
Its bad because MoW:AS2 -- its AI is actually really good. They have a high radious of awareness, they will attack, retreat, and there seems a sense of self preservation about them. The only thing I dont think they do is coordinate, I dont think the AI is aware of friendly AI and they coordinate, i think the AI just functions independently.
I think Im done with Call to Arms. Hopefully Gates of Hell fares better.
Very disappointing.
At least we have MoW:AS2 eh? That game is game of the year for me.... Im a little late to the party, but great game all the same!
No you don't need to install CtA to install CtA:GoH
