It's def not dead. There are 200-400 people on at any given time but online can be spotty. This game is def one of a kind and the single player alone is worth the price. For the gameplay, not the story lol

Abandoned, no. Slow and silent update that can take one or two more years without really knowing what the update is about, yes.
the games in men of war series are all mainly multiplays its just the new call to arms series isnt as goos as men of war yet so MP is lacking
On the one hand, having no updates every week, made modding sustainable. As updates regulary tend to brake some core elements which made modders constantly updaing their mods.
On the other hand, CtA is far from completed game. I mean look how GoH playes better, the penetration system, vehicle armor system feels much better than in CtA. While i do like CtA, far from bad game. It just feels uncompleted game.

How is the pen system different in GoH?

Dude, it has a proper MoW 2 penetration type. Penetration usually kills a crew member. Vehicles have that classic MoW feeling to it, not CoH HP based.

MoW always felt hitpoint based to me, it became readily apparent when I started modding Men of War. I noticed that Heavy Tanks would take 3 penetrations to kill, regardless of the gun I was firing. Meanwhile, Medium tanks would die in 1 hit, occasionally 2. Tanks like the Ferdinand ALWAYS died in 3 hits, even when I was shooting them in the side with a 120mm AP round out of the M103. I set the pen to something like 248 pen and the side armor is only 80mm. Fire 248 pen at Panzer IV(which also has 80mm) and it will straight up detonate. Then another thing that left me wondering what was going on, is the M103. I set the side armor on the M103 to like 51mm, and once tried 38mm, and it seemed to take the same number of hits in the side to knock out. One would think that 51mm, in a non-hitpoint system, that the tank would just die in a single hit. I fired everything at it in my many hours spent testing stuff out in my mod. I fired King Tigers, Panthers, Shermans, Pzr Ivs, M103s, IS-2, IS-7, the works.....

Sooooo, that game definitely has hitpoints of some kind. I guess its just a matter of how the game tries to cloak it. Im honestly ok with CTA's 'hitpoint' system, as its atleast transparent now. What ive watched of GoH, it just looks like they went back to the hidden health bar like Men of War had.

Yeah, well it's still a video game, not sure what you expect from GEM engine.
game is good, i just hope the desync problems in multiplayer get fixed, ruins a lot of the fun of things

IDK. Not much out of the GEM engine, it just cracks me up when people are like: "Realistic damage models" and "no hit point bars" when referring to games. Then you sit back and realize the game has hit point bars of some kind. Even games like ArmA have hit point bars, its just the damage is set to 100% of your health.......

Ive honestly come to like health bars better. A visible, transparent health bar gives one a MUCH better understanding of their current situation, vs guessing on how dead your about to me. Also, also, having played several 'realistic' games, ive come to really dislike that style of damage model.
yes it is. Devs are greedy and make rather a rip off of men of war as a paid dlc with worse mechanics. Instead of working on call to arms which was great.
