HOW?? The tutorial (if it can be called that) is so incomplete I dont know what I am doing. Maybe someone can recommend a beginners guide. Is there even a manual? I think there is a really good game here but man getting started!! lol

Press E for direct control and scroll in using mouse. I have a guide that explains the in game interface in the guide section of Steam

Yes I found it after I submitted this Aussie...great job and it helps a lot. Now to go get some of my blood shed lol

But what about this......can you PAUSE the game and still give orders while paused? I havent seen anything that allows a pause
Brucato Sep 2, 2020 @ 3:19pm
oh well I can make the "E" key and then zoom in work on the vehicles but I cant with individual soldiers??? I can get in direct control mode easy enough and the HUD changes so I know it is successful. But I try to zoom in with the mouse scroll wheel and I zoom in close but not in first person, Like I see Raptor doing in his videos. Is there a setting I need to change?
edtorga1 Sep 3, 2020 @ 5:41am
As far as I know, it only works that way with vehicles
Brucato Sep 3, 2020 @ 8:38am
Ohhh....well watching Raptors great videos on youtube it seems he can go into first person with his individual soldiers looking down the sight or scope......was wondering if I need advance direct control or classic or a mod or what
Brucato Sep 3, 2020 @ 8:39am
P.S. what about a playable pause? Is there one wher you can pause and give orders...click on things...check ammo etc?
KampfTomate007 Sep 3, 2020 @ 11:43am
Advanced Direct Control is the first/third person camera mode where you can ads etc.
(you probably have classic direct control which keeps the current camera angle)
In standard settings its activated by direct control via pressing e

if advanced direct control is selected in options/before creation of game
(depending on other factors which im not 100% certain about but i think singleplayer is selectable during game and multiplayer is before in menu selected)
you can press direct control and then right click for maximum zoom (ads in infantry mode)
and go full on rambo

I can also highly recommend most guides on steam for this game since there arent that many and once you aquired some basic knowledge you can simply skip repeated information

pause is doable even in multiplayer (if youre the only player against ai for example)
via the button [pause] (on your keyboard there are f keys 1-12 and right from F12 there is another 3 wide ray and the right of that ray is the pause key

If Singleplayer (means if youre playing with the singleplayer "base" of this game (theres sp and mp) then you also can speed up/down time via i think in english its called back/backspace?
(the one to delete letters to the left) which has 5 steps 3 is standard speed 2 is i think ,5 and 1 is ,25 while i think 4 is either 1,5 or 2 and 5 is minimum 2 but i think its less than 4 so maybe 3-4 but not sure
so
1-25%
2-50%
3-100%
4-150-200%(?)
5-200-400%(?)

I actually have a ton of info about alot of stuff which i was wondering about so ima quote some things of which i think you could make use of:

*conquest is multiplayer based*
Originally posted by KampfTomate007:
From what i could gather it seems like the conquest gamemode behaves like the online/skirmish modes (under "Battle") which seems to run on a different (multiplayer-)base compared to "true" singleplayer (campaign) which all have the pause option (atleast without other players) but you for example:

-cant use the game speed slider during any mp-based modes but on campaign missions you can (solo not coop cuz coop=mp-based)

-in singleplayer while paused you can move items within inventories although not directly but rather after exiting pause the items will move to directed positions in the order of which you moved first and then if one items designation is opstructed (even if just partially) then it will either not move at all or get stacked towards the upper left corner (standard placement order)

-during singleplayer in general you can give orders while paused and also chain commands and your units will remember them and proceed as soon as you exit pause

-"toggle" commands (like firemode/stance and sub menus) can be used however if a unit is on "FaW" and you want "RF" then youd have to press once for it to go to "HF" and then you cant press again for RF because it needs to be on HF first to then switch to RF but since your units is still in FaW you need to unpause and then repause quickly for it to switch to HF and then you can toggle to RF which will be done once unpaused

^those "pause-command" abilities are missing in the "mp-base" modes which means that although you can pause a skirmish against ai you cant give orders during pause (or atleast they will not be registered) so if youre like me and like to sort inventories then you have to plan ahead which item where to put and also in which order and then unpause-moveitem-pause to do it in game-relative short amount of time
(similar to the "toggle" command method but for everything and also worse since you have to unpause before command)

So now after knowing that i came to the conclusion that the conquest mode within the "singleplayer" tab actually behaves like multiple online/multiplayer/skirmish rounds (even optional coop)
just with some things like units, resources, and seemingly even inventories being saved across rounds

-can take items from enemy and environment like fuelcans from cars and they will be saved within specific soldiers inventory and can be used in other battles

-although you cant manage the inventory of units directly during preperation phase (last time i checked)

-so youd have to bring same units which carried the items in previous battles which youd like to use back into battle and then spawn them and from there on use said items to use or what i like to do store them in dedicated units preferably with large capacity and mostly vehicles (ammo trucks for example can hold items at a 1-100 ratio (1 being the standard for infantry and 100 the trucks relative ratio to that)
which means if a soldier can carry 5 bandages per stack before starting a new one then ammotrucks can stack 500 before starting a new one which in turn uses up more space
(tanks have highest capacity of 1 to 150)

i think thats the reason why you cant give commands while paused or use the gamespeed slider
and also why although you can "save" progress
leaving ongoing battle to reload later to continue ends up with the battle being lost (like if you left a multiplayer match which also would be lost upon leaving)
and therefore cant be continued next day which means youd have to make sure to play a round till the end in order for it to not be counted as lost which in turn basically means you played a multiplayer game

TL;DR:
conquest basically is online skirmish/coop

pause - works(pause key)
change game speed - doesnt work
commands while paused - doesnt work
saving battles (not macro aspect) and continuing later - doesnt work

sorry for the wall of text but i hope i could help you or anybody for that matter out with some of those informations

enjoy the game!

As far as im aware its not possible to adjust rmb behavior (hold or click)
however what is working for me is to use the mousewheel to zoom in during dc

eg. youre in 3rd person and can zoom in/out but if you zoom in far enough you switch into 1st person and if you the zoom one step further you will reach "max" zoom (which is ads)
and because you used the wheel to "toggle" perspective into ads it keeps it that way and you wont need to hold any button

whats also something to keep in mind is that if you want to quickly switch between ads and 1st person with the mousewheel it often ends up zooming out further than intended and you end up in 3rd which can be distracting

so what im doing is:
1.standard - use rmb for quick enter and exit ads during basically all fights
2.use mousewheel to lock ads for longer durations (sniper/scouting since view distance higher during ads/etc.)
3.whenever i have to exit ads i simply press rmb once and you instantly switch back into 1st person

also worth knowing is that if youre reloading and have to ads asap after finished reload then it wont zoom back in into ads so youd have to mousewheel back in manualy however i simply hold rmb shortly before finish reloading so it will ads instantly after done reloading and if needed i simply MW back in and lock ads

its a workaround rather than a direct solution but after a while i got used to it
i hope this information is of use to you and that i could help a bit
KampfTomate007 Sep 3, 2020 @ 11:58am
because that is quite a wall of text i try to give the short answers:

regarding playable pause:
you can give orders during pause but only on the singleplayer base of the game (more on that above in quote 1-3) but not on the multiplayer base

a few things:
-if you play singleplayer based game (campaign) you can pause and select units directly by clicking on them (not on their cards above them from the ui elements)

and although they dont get collored yellow (selected) they are selected
(ui just not indicating it yet) once you unpause for a split second the ui will refresh
and indicate your selected unit in yellow (but you dont need to unpause for taking actions unless you want to use the unit menu at the bottom right which only gets refreshed if ui can refhresh which means quick unpause, pause again)

-during pause you can give order to selected units as if unpaused but a few limitations are in place:
1:inventory can be altered but the items wont move to the dragged position until the inventory gets refreshed (unpause, pause again) and then during unpause they will take the position you dragged them into during pause (drag order sequencing)

2: if you want to select squads (2-10 infantry) then it only works via the unit cards which means you select them and then need to refresh ui to then give orders to them (otherwise you cant give them movement orders correctly since how would the game know to show 10 infantry indicators during cover placement if you havent selected them yet?)

I hope this stuff is of use to you
If you require further help/more specific info let me know

WOWW Kampftomate this was incredibly helpful. I am enjoying the game and the whole reason II even bought it was for the Russian DLC which I am anxiously waiting for.
KampfTomate007 Sep 3, 2020 @ 1:29pm
Im very glad to read that thank you!

Btw I also love this game which is why i came up with many questions for it which the modding community and the devs really helped me out with so im happy to share something aswell

Ive also got some info about other things like how items prioritization works (what weapon will be used then next etc.) or some general idea of file structure of the game so you know where to look for if you want specific values like armor values on different components of vehicle, stats in general, weapon accuracy etc.

I could fish some old posts of mine for some other info if youre interested but generally speaking you got like ~1/3 of it already
Brucato Sep 3, 2020 @ 1:50pm
ok well how about we monitor this thread and if more comes up I wont hesitate to ask. I just think it is way cool all the stuff you can do and I am enjoying it more than company of heroes. My problem is I tend to micro manage (you should see my Steel Division II games lol) and it irks me when I cant stop and investigate their guns...armor ratings, damage and the like. I am new at this game and dont even know for sure if that level is available here....but still I ilke to think about options like tossing a grenade....frag or smoke? which would benefit most? That sort of thing. This game seems to be a lot tougher than most.
KampfTomate007 Sep 3, 2020 @ 2:37pm
Yeah its actually one of the most if not the most complex rts i know (including mowas2) and the level of detail within the gameplay design is really awesome

btw im also a micromanager and thats why i had to know about the pause thing :D

btw if you love to compare statistics like me then you should try to get warm with the famelogic and the entity files because if you wanna know anything about well anything its within those 2 99% of times

e.g. if you want to know about tanks different armor values on different sides and components etc you go to:
"Call to Arms/resource/entity/entity.pak/-vehicle/"and select any faction and then search for a specific vehicles and then you can read stuff like armor values, inventories, armament, etc.

but if you wanna for example know how strong the gun of the M1A2 TUSK is then you have to look for the specific gun e.g.: Call to Arms/resource/gamelogic.pak/set/stuff/gun/120mm_m256a1
etc.
