what is basic edition?

hello guyz I played this free version today.
when I clicked Single, they said need a basic edition.
but what is basic edition and can I change difficulity mode?
and can I play with multi play mode with this free version?

It basically opens up a singleplayer capaign and allows acess to the workshop.
Yes you can play multiplayer with basic.

All you need is pruches the basic edition. It is including single story mode, online play with your friend in single story mode and play local with other player. That's it.

this is strange because i dont have singleplayer and most of factions/units but if i want to buy basic edition it tells me that i already have it :\

Steam thinks that you own the basic edition if the free to play version is in your library so IF you have the free version then you have to remove it from your account so that you can buy the game.
