Call to arms Crashing
Recently ive been getting a lot of crashing issues in the call to arms editor I get a crash report saying that i have an unknown terrain effect (bridge_steel) Ive tried to verify the game files and it occasionally says that files are misssing and are being downloaded yet the crashing continued.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Can you take a screenshot of the full error?

What mods are installed?

Wirst case you can backup your files and reinstall.

Hi delta dude! I used to have multiple mods installed all of them are deleted except for yuppy's favorite items which was recently updated all other mods were deleted through the start menu. Ive tried to find the error message but in my files it just say's unknown i will attempt to quickly replicate the error and type it out.

For now can you unsubscribe from all mods and try to reinstall the game
Left Apr 2, 2019 @ 4:27am
somehow you are overwriting this file:
resource\set\interaction_terrain\effects\bridge.inc
check your install folder, there shouldn't be any file besides .pak in there

a reinstall would only help if you also delete your game folder after uninstalling, as everything added to the vanilla game would not be removed by steam

would all i need to do to save my maps in editor is just copy the files right then i can reinstall?
or is their somthing else i can do to prevent this also where would i find this file? i checked the "set" folder in resourses and the only file in there is a file named "breed" with a set file called vro i think this is my personal file i tried to create my own unit within the editor. regardless this problem has been going on far before that happened.
Laser Apr 2, 2019 @ 12:21pm
i see in a separate post that a set file should not be there im going to try to delete it though i dont think its the problem anyway

Edit: I deleted the set folder and the issue continued diddnt think it was the cause anyway

Edit2: A while ago like months (before Russia update) i had this problem. somehow also this issue only occurs in the editor. When i first got the game I only played the campaign and when i tried the editor was turned away because of this issue.

Edit3: could i just delete my mods in the files as this problem only happens with mods?

This is likely due to saving over original files or a mod altering said files

for your own maps make a mod yourself and copy them into it, yes

when a mod is not activated, it has no influence on your game, so if it doesn't work with all mods deactivated, it is somewhere in your main game

you could go to Steam\steamapps\common\Call to Arms\resource and enter "-pak" into the searchbar, so it will display all other files - check if sth appears
Laser Apr 3, 2019 @ 12:10pm
ok i dont know what sth means but when i entered -pak all the files for my maps appeared.
I dont want to have to do a reinstall unless its absolutly neccesary. Is their a way to manually delete mods so that i might be able to redownload them and hope the problem doesnt continue?

"sth" is short for "something" :)

Steam\steamapps\common\Call to Arms\mods
leave "previews" "template" "tools" and delete the rest

for your own maps:
duplicate "template" and rename to a name you like and move all your maps into it
it needs to have the same folder structure "mods\yourmod\resource\maps\yourmap"

when done, check the -pak search again and see if anything weird is left
or post a screenshot of the list, so I can have a look as well
Laser Apr 4, 2019 @ 12:32pm
there's no mods stored in the mods folder and for me the template file doesn't exist as i think i may have accedentally deleted it. Basically theirs no other files except for preview and tools.
Im pretty sure the mod files are stored in steamapps\workshop\content\302670 and I am wondering if i could delete all those to remove all Remenants of the mods. (Call To Arms is the only steam game I have installed). would it be safe to drag and delete the mod files in 302670 and try to redownload my mods?
