Rocket Artillery?
So its something i just thought about recently since I just bought Men of War assault squad 2 and it just came to me. Where are they Multiple Launch Rocket systems? I mean, Rocket Artillery would be a nice addition to Call to Arms and CTA has a lack of Vehicles compared to its World War 2 Counterpart

Call to Arms and Men of War Assault Squad 2 take place in different time periods, so they have different units and weapons as well as different game mechanics. Soldiers are a lot more expendable in AS2 than in CtA. If you were to put rocket artillery in CtA, there's not really anything to stop the first person who gets them to spam the ♥♥♥♥ out if it and completely wipe out the other side's soldiers.

People keep spamming rocket lunchers in mowas2 and it's fun, here it wont be a big different. Also modern armies use rocket launchers.

I may be wrong, but modern day rocket artillery has a very long range. There are not many maps in CtoA that would support such a weapon. In some of the smaller maps a tank round can go from one side to the other. This would make it difficult for rocket artillery to be anything more than a one volley weapon, given the time for reload of all tubes, the need to hide whilst doing so and the assumption that it would cost quite a bit so would be a later addition to any battle.
I don't see any use for it with the current map sizes, other than perhaps an off screen option. It's range would need to be minimised or some method used so it could not impact a players spawn. That would kill the game very quickly if players were taking arty in their spawn, I could see rage quits being the main result.
Once the 64bit version of Multi Player is released, it may support larger maps which could allow the use of all type of mobile artillery. We will see.
Just my 2 bobs worth.

Now that you do think about it yeah, the maps may be too big for this type of action thank you for putting that in my head

There is no excuse, it worked in MoW, there is absolutely no reason not to include MLRS and ARTY in CTA.

LOL, next thing you will be telling me there is no excuse to put panzers and panthers in CTA just because they're in AS2

Does the Grad-P Technical that the Rebels have count as rocket artillery?
The Old Relic Oct 30, 2018 @ 3:08am
I view the grad-p as a typical rebel weapon. A large HE incendiary mortar type weapon with limited range but over the top killing power. However it is balanced by the fact that it sits on the back of a Toyota which is susceptible to small arms damage. I use it primarily as a shoot and scoot vehicle, similar to how one should use snipers. Fire and move. The time it takes to reload is another negative attribute. It teaches opposition players that grouping yr squads in the one spot results in many walking candles when the grad-p round detonates and therefore a practice to be avoided.
